re: John Elway involved in golf cart incident that leaves his long time agent dead
Posted by CatfishJohn on 4/30/25 at 2:30 pm
This thread had me curious, since everyone seems to know a golf cart death story.
Estimated 15,000 injuries a year and 600 deaths resulting from golf cart accidents.
If you think about how many golf carts there are being used in this country regularly (tens of millions), that is pretty insignificant.
Now, I don't know what % of those overall cart numbers are personal use golf carts and what % of accidents are personal use golf carts. But let's say 500,000 carts are personal/neighborhood use and 300 deaths are on those carts, that is more dramatic.

Golf cart seat belts are a thing and easy to put on aftermarket if they didn't come with them.
I'm in the market for one, but haven't pulled the trigger. I'll definitely either buy one with seatbelts or put them on.

Or the chip on his shoulder. Deion wasn't a rich kid growing up with everything given to him. As flashy and cocky as he was, he also came from absolutely nothing and had nothing to fall back on if he failed. And obviously he was a generational athlete and his children are not even close to that.

Recovery science, not PEDS, is the biggest difference IMO. Pro athletes and non athletes have always had good diet and exercise options. Now they have are doing all sorts of recovery things.
When I stick to my contrast therapy after exercising I feel immeasurably better. 20 minute sauna, 15 minute ice bath.
Fewer processed foods helps too.
ETA:
Works pretty well for hangovers too.

UGA is a better job then Hail State with a truckload of talent in your own backyard plus the portal
While Georgia is loaded with high school talent, baseball recruiting is truly a national thing for top programs and UGA's program is not on MSU's level, by any stretch of the imagination.
Now, Athens is amazing and Wes may think it's a sleeping giant he wants to build up over the course of a decade before retiring, but it's not MSU baseball.
ETA:
My personal opinion is Wes Johnson ends up back in MLB eventually.

Difference being that Deion wasn't raised rich. He had a chip on his shoulder and didn't have a fall back option of rich daddy if sports didn't work out.
Shedeur also isn't a generational athlete/talent. Shedeur has all of Deion's bad qualities and few of the good.
re: What is happening to my magnolia tree?
Posted by CatfishJohn on 4/25/25 at 11:36 am
With an established magnolia it's really hard to over fertilize with hollytone. It's slow release and organic. I have 6 established magnolias and use three bags per tree twice a year. So 36 bags  They respond really well to it after brutal Tennessee winters with our hard freezes which turns into boggy soil after the melt and early Spring/late winter rains.
It can hurt the grass along the drip line a bit, but I don't have much because of the trees themselves.

This thread misspelling Deion constantly is also cracking me up.

Shedeur isn’t that good against real competition, is extremely entitled, and seems like a poor teammate. This all blowing up in his face is cracking me up.
One thing that did change my mind about a player last night was Cam Ward’s parents. Seem like awesome, hard working, humble people and that makes me think he’ll be better than I thought. His body language has turned me off in the past, but so has Jayden’s and he is a very hard worker and good teammate. Might be like that.
Shedeur is Deion, but raised extremely spoiled, and without the generational talent to back it up.

Throw a lot of hollytone around the drip line just to make sure it has nutrients
