Can't do that

Conference championships have to mean something
Sportsfan says "get rid of G5 bids"

People running the show know that could draw a lawsuit. It's either let the G5 have a bid, or break away

I think this thing is headed to 16 teams anyways. 1 of 8 games that is a G5 blowout is much better than 2 of 4 games for the opening round
Jmo, but Georgia might have their hands full with Ole Miss

This game against Tulane is an absolute beatdown

Can this team beat Georgia?

The playoff obviously needs to be tweaked

I'd rather see the top two G6 schools play each other for the 1 bid as a play-in game

I'm all for fairness, but the playoff has to be balanced as well, and more than 1 G5 bids is absurd

Tonight's game should be Oregon vs. Notre Dame

Ole Miss needs to pull their starters
Notre Dame could be, but we'll never know, because they managed to leave one of the best teams out in a 12 team playoff

Notre Dame's offense is sure a hell of a lot better than OU's
...in the 2 year history of the 12 team playoff...

Stop with the 16 teams. 8 is plenty. Nobody outside of 6 is ever winning.

it won't be getting smaller...the toothpaste is out of the bottle

Let's either tweak what we have, or expand a bit to make sure all the right teams are covered

Theoretical: With #1 getting a bye, they'll almost always be a P4 conference champ.

Maybe most of the time, but not necessarily...

And no, if the top team is a conference champ with a bye, then its the next 3 champs.

Tulane would get homefield in this example because the ACC flubbed their tiebreakers and Duke won

In this example, the G5 champ would almost always have to play in the wild card play-in game

As much as I hate the frickers, probably Notre Dame.

This isn't an Alabama-Notre Dame problem...

This is the fault of the conference commissioners who make $$$$$ millions of dollars, and can't figure out how to make a playoff work properly???

Just 1 simple play-in game would have solved this season: JAMES MADISON VS NOTRE DAME

The people that run this sport are absolutely retarded

ND isn’t good. They’re irrelevant.

Notre Dame should have absolutely been in this playoff...how to make that happen is the question.

Simply adding a Play-In or Wild Card game with Notre Dame vs. James Madison would have solved the issue

Or expanding to 14/15/16

They need to make these tweaks...it's not rocket science

Honestly, I think the addition of some type of wild card game would solve alot of issues...

This year could have been Notre Dame vs. James Madison for that last spot

16 team playoff done right

#1 team gets BYE
4 top conference champs get homefield advantage (bold)

#1 Indiana -BYE-
#2 Ohio State vs. Wild Card winner
#3 Georgia vs. #14 BYU
#4 Texas Tech vs. #13 Texas
#5 Oregon vs. #12 Notre Dame
#6 Ole Miss vs. #11 Miami FL
#7 Texas A&M vs. #10 Alabama
#8 Tulane vs. #9 Oklahoma

Wild Card game, (played week after Conference Championship games)
#15 Vanderbilt vs. #16 James Madison

If Alabama scores more points, they win
It's the new normal people...players are shopping themselves around for $$$. Can you blame them?

You may not agree with him limiting it to conference championship dynasties, and you may not even agree with his definition of a dynasty....but it's his thread and he set the parameters.

well, the entire subject is subjective...honestly, the idea of "conference dynasties" doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Why not just role that component into what a real dynasty is, because most schools that have real dynasties usually dominate their conference

You think making a 12 team playoff is dynasty talk worthy? Playing for a conference title is dynasty worthy and not having to actually win any?

...in relation to the whole of Alabama's dynasty, yes. The 12 team playoff is the sole goal for every team. Show me proof that Alabama's dynasty is in fact dead

A&M / Miami winner over Ohio State

re: Why is Tech seeded above Ole Miss?

why is Oklahoma ranked ahead of Notre Dame?

-Ole Miss- Congratulations -Miami- Congratulations

Ole Miss? eh...

Miami? still 0 ACC Championships. I do think they have the talent to make a run, but we shall see...

Alabama- one dimensional cry baby team living off of Saban’s glory days and those Georgia wins.

Alabama is still making playoffs and playing for conference titles...
