quote:That was the Justin Canale, Hoyle Granger and others. They played in the last Liberty Bowl played in Philadelphia. We beat NC State in the freezing cold. I can remember walking in a shop and the guy was listening to the game against Ole Miss. We were thrilled with a tie.
In the 1963 game State (and we had a good team that year finishing with a 7-2-2 record and we were four points away from winning the SEC) led 10-7 late in the fourth quarter and OM drove down to the three yard line and on fourth down chose to kick a FG to tie the game.

I was at the 14-14 tie against Alabama in Tiger Stadium in 1985 and it was almost as frustrating as a loss.
As to whether its like kissing your sister...the Bama folks will know more about that.

Yes, the 17-17 tie between Tennessee and Alabama in Birmingham in 1993. Tennessee was the better team the majority of the game. Bama trailed 17-9 and scored a late TD and a David Palmer 2pt conversion with under 2 minutes left if I remember correctly. Ties suck

I remember being a lsu game and when I heard the score thinking “Fall baseball?” Can’t imagine watching that as a fan of either team or just to watch a game.

You can’t imagine how bad it was.
Something like 400 total yds of offense for both teams combined.
Auburn scored all 5 points. A fg in the first half for them & a 4th quarter holding call in the end zone gave State 2 of them.

1993 at Legion Field vs Rat Fulmer.
I don’t have a sister, but it was great to see that fat piece of shite almost bite his lip in half more than once. He was redder in the face than Bama’s jerseys at the end of that game (also had it on VCR).
Go to hell, Tennessee

I was at the LSU - Rice tie game in 1974 in Houston. Game ended 10.-10 with LSU kicking a field goal on a fourth down from Rice’s one yard line to tie! Rice kicker missed ac50 yarder as time ran out. McClendon’s rationale for going for the tie as a 30 point favorite was that he thought the team had not played poorly enough to chance losing the game on a Rice goal line stand.

I know it’s common practice within your fanbase but no one else has any clue what this is like.

What I remember the most from that game was two things. Tennessee had them on a 4th down near the goal line. Should’ve been the end of the game. But Barker hit Lee for the first and goal from the one. Bama executed perfectly most of that drive. Then the two point conversion. That convinced me Fulmer could load a team with talent. And win with it. But on equal footing fall short as a coach. Bama lined up with Palmer under center. A timeout was called but Bama lined up the same way. Tennessee still had the wrong defensive alignment and cost them. They knew what was coming and still screwed it up.
Palmer said after the game “if they couldn’t beat us today they never will.”
