Everyone in the stadium knew what was coming when Palmer lined up at Qb for the 2 point conversion. It was only a matter of would he go right or left.

100%. Look at the video I just posted in my initial post. Lined up that 3 yards looked like soooo much green but you just knew #2 was gonna get it done.

Ala-LSU in Baton Rouge. 14-14?

I'm pretty sure I was at the game with my dad. I went to all of the home games with him back then. I was only 10 so I don't remember.

Off the top of my head I was at the 1978 AU -Georgia game, 1990 AU- Tennessee, 1991 AU-Arkansas, 1994 AU-Georgia. All of these except the 1990 Tennessee game felt like a loss.

I have but it was many smoke signals ago. This may have been but possibly further back than this The last official LSU football game that ended in a tie was on September 30, 1995, against the South Carolina Gamecocks, with a final score of 20-20

only tied game I attended was LSU at South Carolina in 1995, LSU 20, South Carolina 20.

1995 was the final season games could end in ties. Last college football game to end in a tie was 3-3 draw between Wisconsin and Illinois on November 25, 1995.

Ole Miss' last tie on the gridiron was when I was 4 against Arkansas State. I hope I wasn't there but may have been.

In 1960, an LSU team with four straight losses, played Ole Miss, then ranked number two in the nation to a 6-6 tie. It was quite satisfactory since the tigers turned their season around with that tie.

1984 OU-Texas, a 15-15 tie that was highway robbery. Texas got two gift calls, one on a fumble and then an OBVIOUS INT in the end zone, both of which would have ended the game.

Has anyone mentioned “Tie Dye?” Pat Dye is famous for the 1988 Sugar Bowl tie when he chose to kick a field goal with four seconds left instead of attempting a game-winning touchdown.

1968 Mississippi State v. Texas Tech 28-28. They also tied Ole Miss that year but I was not at that one. Not sure if it was this year or later but the QB on the 0-8-2 team was a guy named Tommy Pharr and he was the All SEC quarterback.

Yeah, I was at the LSU-Ohio State game in the 80's that ended in a tie.

Tied late, LSU down already in field goal position, Tommy Hodson threw an interception on 2nd and Goal.

Felt like a loss; scorching hot afternoon game, and the late frickup instead of a big dramatic late-game win was crushing.
What made it even worse, we threw another pick on the next possession, and Ohio State was set up to win on a 49 yd kick at the end. Luckily we blocked that.

But we should have won

Ala-LSU in Baton Rouge. 14-14? Shula was our QB. Humphrey got hurt early in the game. LSU missed a short FG late and then Perkins sat on the ball and ran out the clock. I was young. All I remember

I was there. NOBODY left that game happy.

I seem to remember that halftime was a bit long because they filmed some footage for a movie.

Nebraska would have easily won the 1983 NC had Osborne kicked the PAT and settled for a tie against Miami in the Orange Bowl. The 2-point decision is still talked about today.

Yes. LSU vs Alabama 1985

I remember sitting in the tunnel with my dad watching the missed FG at the end of regulation to win it.... then the fast paced walk back to the car to beat the traffic

14 14 tie.

quote:

The 1985 standoff remains notable in the history of the matchup. Prior to this tie, Alabama had dominated the series for years, and this game proved to be the only time between 1970 and 1999 that the Crimson Tide failed to defeat the Tigers at "Death Valley"

I don’t recall ever actually attending a tie game but when I was a little boy Ole Miss & State tied 10-10 in Starkvegas.
You have to understand that from 1947-1962 Ole Miss was 14-0-2 against State so naturally there was a great amount of frustration with the State faithful over all the failures against Ole Miss.
In the 1963 game State (and we had a good team that year finishing with a 7-2-2 record and we were four points away from winning the SEC) led 10-7 late in the fourth quarter and OM drove down to the three yard line and on fourth down chose to kick a FG to tie the game.
My Dad was so furious about the tie that he cussed out every Ole Miss fan he saw coming out of the stadium and there was a charter bus from Meridian (our hometown) with Ole Miss fans on it (many of whom my Dad knew) and my Dad went along the bus beating it and dog cussing all the Ole Miss fans. He would have rather lost the game than a tie. My Mom finally had enough and grabbed him and told him the game was over and to shut his trap…LOL
He stayed mad about that game the rest of his life and we have all had many a chuckles and laugh recalling it.

So that is my tie game story for entertainment for all of you.

I mentioned this. Earlier in the thread.... But I also mentioned that many OU fans didn't know that we had intercepted the ball on the end zone play. I didn't know about it until about five minutes after the game... when we were walking down the ramp and a couple of friends who had brought a radio told us.

Live from the other end of the stadium it looked like Andre Johnson (OU DB) had broken the pass up... We didn't see Stanberry (OU Safety) come in and catch the ball before it hit the ground). I do remember wondering why we didn't see the ball bounce around on the ground after Johnson knocked it down. Nobody in our section had any idea the ball was actually intercepted.
