Yea it’s just not the same anymore. Most would agree the last real season of college football was 2019. Before the covid BS and all of the NIL craziness.

I am there as well. I tried to watch some of the games this weekend. Gave up when USC picked up a first down and there was a 3+ minute commercial break. After a first down. The game is less watchable on TV than MLB and its worse in person. I thought I'd give a FCS game a shot. No bueno....same shite over there. I don't mind them paying players, trading during one series of downs or just flat out doing anything they choose but don't do that shite and them stop the game for 3+ minutes on every other first down for fricks sake...

Most won't admit it, but you're 100% correct. The innocence of the game is long gone. They're not kids anymore, but paid participants. I'll still watch b/c I love the sport, but we all know it's just not the same.

I was thinking about this the other day with the ruling about the NFL players. Damn I glad that the military isn't ran like college football.
I joined the Army to be an infantryman, but I didn't know that they ran so much. So I transferred to the Air Force. Thought I'd like being a crew chief on F35's, but I don't like being stationed at Hill AFB in Utah. So I transferred to the Navy. Yes, an electronics tech on an aircraft carrier in the beautiful ocean. But I didn't know that I would be sea sick all the time. So I transferred to the Marines. Now I'm a bad arse recon Marine. Wait what? Y'all ride on ships too? So I went to college in the ROTC program.

Your team had an impressive multi year losing streak and you claim modern CFB is a bad product?

Were you excited last year when A&M emptied your stadium or did you chose not to be?

Yea..is weird. I mean, I am still happy to see Football games again...but yea, the excitment for it has died down a bit.

Tried to watch Citadel vs. Wofford on Saturday. Commercial after commercial. The games being on ESPN+ don't help.

If college football looks like the product we saw last weekend then the sports is dead. You’re now paying for an awful product.

I started at Bama in the fall of '94. This is the first season since then that I only know a few players names.
I typically went to openers. I had a friend reach out and ask if I was going to the opener this year and I didn't even know the date, the opponent or where the game was even being played.
I didn't even have an inclination to watch any of the week zero games. I was usually so excited for football to be back I'd watch any game. This year, I just don't care.

I am not nearly as excited about college football as I used to be, but I still enjoy it. It has definitely gone downhill some since covid.

Immoral scum like LSU have ruined a sacred institution.

I won’t even watch whatever “CFB” is this year.

Agree 100%
Couldn’t care less about our season. We whiffed on the coaching hire (again), but that’s only part of the problem.
The NIL era has made the sport unrecognizable. There’s no loyalty among the players to any team and the pageantry feels gone.
I don’t even plan on watching our game this weekend. I’ll probably watch some later games but I’ll be busy during the day living my life as if it doesn’t exist. Hard to believe.

I think there's a transitioning of the fanbase of college football. Most people I talk to that are around my age or older, regardless of team they pull for, have lost interest in CFB than what they had just five years ago. Even more from ten years ago.
What we "Jefferson Pilot" fans are seeing is a new fanbase taking over where the current college football is their "normal". They don't know any different so there's nothing wrong with it. Whereas, the older guys who grew up during the BCS years and even before, see a huge difference in the game and don't have the affection for it as they used to.

The portal has been 1000x worse than NIL in itself and At least 40-50% of college football is a bunch of influencer wannabes who can barely read transferring over and over again to avoid any kind of accountability beyond collecting a check. It's like an entire league of Terrell Owenses
No one in national leadership has yet figured out that cfb fandom is about the teams, not the players. CFB fans are brought up watching guys play for 2 maybe 3 years and then they move on. If cfb went to all walk ons tomorrow, with only students who legitimately made their way in, we'd all still be watching. Meanwhile, if you put all of the current cfb players in a D-league instead, it'd pull about the same ratings as AAA baseball.
Players need CFB more than CFB needs them and we have to stop acting like it's the opposite.

Eh, I'll always be excited to see OU football. It helps that we're supposed to be pretty good this year.
College football hasn't been innocent for a long, long time. Y'all seem to think players in the past like Cam Newton had loyalty to their school. That's a laugh. They went to the school that either paid them the most under the table or would get them to the NFL the easiest.
They do need to fix the transfer portal / NIL issues that are effectively creating one-year free agents, there's a reason the pro leagues don't let that happen. And they need to stop cramming as many commercials into broadcasts as possible (this is the one thing that will push me away if it keeps getting worse).
