Pete has exceeded my expectations so far.

But beating "Big Game Lane" isn't exactly a great measuring stick.

I am dead wrong about Drinkwitz being a good to great HC. Time to move on since Florida, MSU, Ole Miss, and Auburn will end up being ranked higher than Missouri at the end of this season.

In b4: "It's with Lane's players"

Is that not true?

Didn't lane build the team and staff?

I always said Ole miss would be good this year. I wasn't one of the people acting like lsu would route Ole miss.

I knew it would be a close game one way or another.

The thing is, going forward, golding already has the system in place. The nil is set up. The staff is basically the same. He has a great oc.

Ole miss will be able to recruit well. He won't ever have another chambliss, but I don't see Ole miss falling off like some of the other lsu fans on here.

LSU fans: When Trinidad Chambliss leaves....

Which completely discounts that Lane had his best season as a head coach with Chambliss as his QB…

Don't most teams have their best years when they have Heisman contenders at qb?

Joe Burrow won Ed o a title. Thst team was Elite pretty much everywhere but the point remains.

Kiffin set up golding for success. Ole miss fans are disingenuous by saying it's all golding.

"Golding won 2 playoff games" "lane didn't"

Surely no one will bump this thread if Florida beats Ole Miss this weekend.

Pete has had a great run so far.

Let's not go crowning Ole Miss conference co-champs just yet.

Congrats on finishing #3 nationally and #3 in the SEC standings last year.

I really didn't predict anything about Pete. And it's way too early for any meaningful grade, good or bad on Pete's head coaching ability.

He's very inexperienced as a head coach. Most head coaches need to be the boss at lower levels to learn the difference between the boss of it all vs a coordinator.

Coach Saban still says Pete was a great DC. Best interview ever.

Without great players no coach will do very well in the SEC.

I think Pete may be over his head in a year or two, but no more than several other Head Coaches.

Did you learn nothing from hiring Houston Nutt?

Lol but it is with lane’s players. He gets zero credit for anything last year, all he had to do was not steer the boat directly into the rocks for a couple games. This year he can earn some credit but it will still be with largely with lanes players. It won’t be until at least one more year before you can really judge him

No because the roster is recruited annually. If they were Lane's players, they would have followed him.

If they are currently on the payroll, Lane does not get credit. Lane gets credit for LSU.

Pete is from Louisiana. I wish him well, but that doesn’t mean I wish Ole Miss well.

Let's all settle down and see what he does when Chambliss is gone, all of Lanes recruits have left....Then we'll be able to judge him!

All RBs besides Lacy are Pete
The whole defense is Pete

But it's Lane's team amirite

He proved me wrong Saturday by not letting the emotions of the Lane Bowl get to him. A better job than Kiffin did. I think overall he is a good coach, but he needs to win a lot more games. He needs to keep Ole Miss in contention for a SEC championship or another playoff run to prove he can handle being a head coach and also bring in players the same caliber or better after taking over for Lane.

The Jury is still out in my opinion.

When we wins without Chambliss. Really is as simple as that.

Chambliss won the Louisville and LSU game. Not coaching. Replace him with Deuce Alexander, and Ole Miss very well could be 1-2 right now.

Let's see how he does in his first road game, SEC road game while at it. He hasn't played at another team's field yet.
