A&M rebuilt or built new 60% of the seating and 80% of the infrastructure at Kyle Field in 2014-15 for $450 million.

It just goes to show you how much inflation we've had in the past 10 years.

I'm all for UF going big and support them (and am jealous)

But objectively, I don't think that looks very good, especially for that price tag. For that money, you should be able to construct something very high end and cohesive, and this doesn't look like that. Nor does it appear to retain any charm.

As someone who wants our collective stadiums to age well, I hope they iron out some of this and product is better than it looks. No shade to UF, as I bitch constantly about Auburn's absence of foresight in renovations.

That looks amazing. That's going to be the nicest stadium in the SEC for sure.

Bryant Denny is the nicest stadium in the SEC. The stadium is symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing and was done right.

long overdue

But the renovation of the entire program still is too

Spend $1.5 billion to build a stadium so fans can see a 4-5 team losing a nooner to Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, usf, probably fau this year ect ect ect

I’m sorry I don’t see 1.45 billion worth of work in those renderings. $500 mill maybe but that’s an insane amount of money to essentially just be adding sky boxes onto the existing structure. For comparison the Jags are spending roughly the same amount to add onto their existing stadium for a way nicer looking finished product and surrounding amenities.

Wow. Remember when Jerry World was built for $1B and everyone was losing their mind at the cost. Then Kronke built the stadium in LA for $5B. Now Florida gets to polish a turd for $1.4B and be proud of it. Could build an entirely new stadium in a different location for that cost. I'm glad LSU did all of their renovations years ago at a fraction of the cost. Hell, Kyle field was basically renovated and added onto like this for less than $500MM. Miami renovated their stadium and added a roof over the seats for $350MM. What are you doing, Gators?

Always said that there's no reason Florida shouldn't be contending for titles most seasons. This is a good sign that they are willing to invest in the football program.

Better to invest in NIL than to spend this kind of money on the stadium. Not smart IMO

You could make that argument, sure, but this is a good sign for them especially considering most Florida fans here were convinced the AD had no interest in the FB program.

A top priority would've been to spend the money instead on rosters like Texas, Miami, Ohio state uga Isu Texas tech does.

It's a college football game
l've never had an issue sitting in a bleacher seat it would've been cheaper to instead hand out ozempic going in for the ppl who complain about it.

U want luxury seats go to a nfl game

At one time in the 90's and early 2000s, that was the most feared place to play.

I heard part of the renovation will include a statue of Tom Petty out front that will sing Won't Back Down when you rub it's belly

Could've spent the 1 billion to literally buy a national title

Instead they are spending it for ppl to watch another 20 years of gasperilla bowls

Bingo. The stadium and facilities used to be to lure in big time recruits. Now it takes cold hard cash. The facilities upgrade wars is probably mostly over now unless you can build better training facilities to sell development along with the cash.

If that was all they were doing, you'd be right. But, I think they are going to do like A&M did on the East side, and strip everything out under the existing stands, save the supports, and build new concourses, restrooms, etc. Probably will re-terrace the seating on the west side, too and put in some club spaces.
