most Florida fans here were convinced the AD had no interest in the FB program.
We still hire g5 coaches and lose recruiting battles when it’s crunch time despite having performative good looking classes in May and june

How bad was this dump to need that kind of money?

If that was all they were doing, you'd be right. But, I think they are going to do like A&M did on the East side, and strip everything out under the existing stands, save the supports, and build new concourses, restrooms, etc. Probably will re-terrace the seating on the west side, too and put in some club spaces.
Yeah they're having to gut a lot of the stadium, it's going to be a rather substantial rebuild. Obvious I guess with the price tag

It looks like capacity is going to be 88,000

Why not just build a new stadium?

DIDN'T THINK YOU COULD DO THAT MUCH IMPROVEMENT TO A DUMP

They better build water stations that constantly mist people like they have at Busch Gardens damnit! It is very fricking hot
Also...If they build one near the student section, my old arse will be there at halftime hoping all the sorority girls are wearing white tshirts and no bras.

That's rich coming from a fan of the school whose stadium has been officially condemned by the state structural engineers but UT just continues to kick the can down the road and put off any repairs. That was in the 1980's and here we are 45 years later, and UT still hasn't spent any money to repair the structural flaws in neyland stadium.
Last time I checked, no other SEC school uses a building that is structurally condemned as their stadium but Tennessee.

Wow. Remember when Jerry World was built for $1B and everyone was losing their mind at the cost. Then Kronke built the stadium in LA for $5B. Now Florida gets to polish a turd for $1.4B and be proud of it. Could build an entirely new stadium in a different location for that cost. I'm glad LSU did all of their renovations years ago at a fraction of the cost. Hell, Kyle field was basically renovated and added onto like this for less than $500MM. Miami renovated their stadium and added a roof over the seats for $350MM. What are you doing, Gators?
Miami doesn't have a stadium. They rent the bottom 2 rows of seats at the local NFL stadium for their "home" games which is about 45 minutes from campus, as if it were an Air BnB.
2 rows was probably a row too many given the size of the Hurricane fanbase.

Better to invest in NIL than to spend this kind of money on the stadium. Not smart IMO
Most sane fans would agree with you there. Now that it's legal to pay players, and there hasn't been a salary cap instituted yet like the NFL has, the sky is the limit.
Luckily for Florida, the BEST thing that the new coach has done so far that helps the fanbase accept him is the fact that his first job on arriving in town after he secured the few ultracritical players from transferring out was to go around and interview all of the big time boosters and make it plain that they had to cough up more for NIL as everything else was pointless if you aren't competing with the NIL offers of the other teams.
That seems to have borne some fruit as this coach is sitting on the current # 4 or 5 recruiting class, which Florida hasn't had in nearly 20 years.
Alas it has to be a balance of paying the players who make the sport work fundamentally, and paying the spectators who are FUNDING the whole game and don't want to sit on rusty bleachers from the 60's when watching. You have to strike that balance as without one or the other, you end up with nothing.

Seems like Miami figured out the formula for the nil era

The same will happen if we go 5-7 or 6-6 this year and the Disney gators will say we need the money for the Reno once players start de commiting

Miami hasn't figured anything out. It's simply that times have changed and Miami's formula for the past 50 years is now LEGAL and all the blow, cash, hookers, and sheep are legit recruiting.

To be fair..we better be buying players hookers if others are. These are 17 and 18 year old men...they are only thinking about a few things.

Looks great. Can't imagine why a renovation is that much though. Probably includes a lot of development around the stadium or something. Either that or a guy named Guido is the developer.
