Couldn't we have taken a little of that for NIL...like 50 mill or so....

’m sorry I don’t see 1.45 billion worth of work in those renderings. $500 mill maybe but that’s an insane amount of money to essentially just be adding sky boxes onto the existing structure. For comparison the Jags are spending roughly the same amount to add onto their existing stadium for a way nicer looking finished product and surrounding amenities.
It’s a money laundering scheme. That’s why. Scott Stricklin and his cronies are terrorist.

I want to argue but it probably is...

No added capacity after all that seems crazy

Lots of higher donor dollars and ticket prices seems less crazy

Lmao what kind of price tag is that. NFL stadiums cost less.

Texas A&M redid their entire stadium for 400 million

Originally they were gonna cut 12k. They are saying this is what it costs to bring the whole stadium to code and not lose capacity. I call hogwash.

I guess the Texas tech situation emboldened the UAA to take it to this level

I don't. It has been understood for years, if not decades, about how much work was going to be needed one day. Study after study has shown that we'd need massive investment just on deferred maintenance, this pre-dates Stricklin. The UF engineering department has done all kinds of analysis on the structure. It was just a matter of time, and if not building new, have to do all the work to make sure this thing can last another hundred years.

Article says capacity will remain the same at 88K. Looks like mostly upgrades to fan comfort and a lot of high dollar boxes and seating for the people with money.
Quick time laps of Kyle field renovation.

UF could play in a $10B stadium for that matter but they're still going to lose out on recruits if texas or miami is going to keep doubling the going rate.
Forget the stadium, it seems like the ideal play would be to pocket the $1.45 Billion & turn it into an NIL trust fund that kicks off enough for a $100M roster each year. They could play in FL Tech's stadium & still whup everyone's arse

$1.45 billion..... that can make a HUGE improvement by just deleting that Tom Petty song from their play list and save that money.
