Could any other coach have done a worse job the Deboer did with this talent?

Other than QB, Alabama had as much talent as anyone else in the country.
And to end up losing 4 games, and could have been more ( South Carolina, Georgia for example).

And what is the common denominator in 3 of the 4 losses?

Any other coach? Sure. There are some terrible coaches out there. Look at all the talent Florida State had and they go 2-10. That's not really a defense of DeBoer, because there were horrid coaching moments this season. But to say he did the worst possible job is hyperbolic. I give him a D+

This is what happens when your quarterback allows the other team to start their possesions on your 21 yard line.

Do we? Milroe is arse. Proctor is a slow, fat frick. Pritchett is chocolate Chris Capps. Haynes never did anything of note. Miller is decent but we won't give him the ball enough to get into a rhythm. WRs were trash outside of the top two.

The defense mostly played to their talent level in the second half of the season.

Well, Saban was a play away from losing four regular season games last year and he had the added luxury of the 40+ players who transferred or went pro like Downs, Amos, Key, Latham, Turner, Arnold, Kool-Aid, Eboigbe, etc...

And according to the talent composite, we only have four total upperclassmen ranked in the top 22.

Would Kiffin? Dude couldn't even beat Kentucky with Jackson Dart.

Sark? Dude was nearly upset by Vandy with Ewers behind center.

Kirby? He flat out should have lost to Georgia Tech (which would have been his third loss of the season) and the refs are the only reason he escaped that game with a win. Nothing he or his players did won that game. It was all on corrupt officiating. Granted he's worked with a garbage QB as well all season (unlike Kiffin and Sark).

Honestly I thought the offensive staff as a whole did a bad job. I didn’t think our OL was good at all this year, especially considering the amount of returning starters (essentially four of five) we had back. Our QB play went backwards from what Rees got out of it, and the only offensive position group that I thought had a good year was tight end.

Speaking of TE, did Cuevas play today?

And that's why I don't want to hear any of this "rebuild" bullshite. Refusing to sit a Walmart parking lot shite diaper of a quarterback isn't a rebuild.

You'll shite bricks when you realize Saban was coasting on Talent for years....

We haven't been well coached for some time. It's going to take a bit to turn it around.

With that being said....two things ring true....

(1) DeBoer did a piss poor job this year down the stretch. I mentioned this when we hired him. His ability to be buddy buddy can be his biggest weakness.
(2) Jalen Milroe played AWFUL. Throwing multiple INTs on screens. Bullet passes on fade routes. Inability to throw across the middle. Unable to read RPOs, etc.

Agree with Proctor and Pritchett. Both are fat, slow and wildly out of shape. Both need to drop 30 lbs and work on their quickness. IMO, both are busts and act like they can’t be replaced (they can).

2023 was Saban's best coaching job at Alabama.

Took Milroe to a SEC Championship and playoff berth.

You are right though, most of the time Saban coasted on talent.

I honestly think that there were some guarantees in Milroe’s contract which stipulated that he remain the starter because he helped keep the team together. Literally nothing else can explain him not being benched. I will never believe that Ty is worse than him.

I honestly just don’t see the talent that everybody swears is pouring out of the athletic complex.

It's all because a bunch of recruiting services arbitrarily assigned star ratings to people that fans take as absolute gospel.

Plus they still harken back to their days playing football 20, 30, 40 years ago where people could "coach 'em up." That ship has sailed.

I can't imagine what you would be saying right now if DeBoer would have told Milroe to hit the bricks and half the team would have hit the portal with him and and all we had is a backup qb with some backup offensive linemen and Germie Bernard at receiver? And a season on par with what Hugh Freeze had.
