Gonna be hard to convince him to come here and play second base? Plus I’d wager we have a lot of money wrapped up in Lebron. Not sure we can go get another big money guy.
ACC had 10 teams in and only one made it. Worst ratio in the nation I’m sure.

It’s ok the way it is. Let randomness and upsets be a part of it.
Unfortunately the arm injury was going to take him out of the fall. Hate it for him and best of luck finding a new spot.
I guess if you love the game you might as well keep playing for as long as someone will have you. I don’t see anything wrong with it.
I don’t really understand that reclass stuff. I think the vast majority would benefit from staying and enjoying their senior year. Maybe it’s to be able to get drafted sooner? Assuming you aren’t a draft prospect out of HS?
May not get on the field there either. But Clemson probably figures a live arm like that is worth taking a flyer on.

It’s not like he didn’t get a chance.

5 G, 3.2 IP, 3 H, 6 BB, 3 WP, 2 HBP, 9.82 ERA

My guess is that is kind of what happened during intersquad and live ABs too.
I think he was in the portal for about 3 hours.

0-4 in regionals earns you a contract extension these days?

From where our program has been lately? Yeah. We took a step forward this year. We need another one next year, but Vaughn seems like a very solid coach.
I mean those numbers are ridiculous and he won’t duplicate them next year but plenty of JUCO guys come right in and do very well. It’s not comparable to going from college to AAA in any way.
I think Hines hit 20 or 21 homers this year. Pretty sure he led the nation at the HS level. Dude has crazy pop.

At the end of the day though, those games really didn’t mean squat in terms of our regional seed.

Maybe not, but the metrics we were leaning on and the resume we put together weren’t going to look as good with 4-5 midweek losses.
The problem was we needed him to win those midweek games in many cases. So that’s back to the bullpen issue at large.
I can’t argue with your points although it’s hard to see how a D or D+ baseball team won 40 games and was over .500 in league play. Could haggle with your grading I guess but your points are definitely fair.
Well, Wagner spent the year rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. Not sure why he’s leaving now but it would seem logical, to your point, that the coaches probably have him down the pecking order further than he’d like.
Eh, I’d argue that part of the problem is guys spend too much time with a heavy ball in their hand trying to throw it as hard as they can at a net - accuracy he damned. This goes for Tread, too. Guys don’t spend enough time with an actual baseball in their hand figuring out how to get a hitter out. But like I said earlier, that’s what the pros want and guys are going to follow suit.

they oughta be training for mental toughness and pitch location

Maybe but they aren’t giving out signing bonuses and racing guys through the system who can spot 88.
Gotta remember in Maddux’s day the average fastball was probably 89-90, which Maddux was at for most of his career. The elite guys then were throwing 95 and an upper 90s guy was incredibly rare. Maddux had an average to above average fastball, contextually, in terms of velocity for the first half of his career and in his prime.
It’s a trickle down from the pros. They want velocity and are training for it at that level. High school and college guys want to be pros so they train for velocity too.
Hodo and Snell as the guys that are definitely gone plus Fowler and Bonomolo would be tough losses as well if those projections are correct.
