Tight zone for sure

Catch is back there moving all over the place
Has OUs catcher always sucked so bad defensively/receiving?

It seems bigger just because it is so much more out there with travel ball and parents that take it way too serious.

It seems bigger because there are 300+ kids in our local rec league just in 7U and 8U, compared to about 100 kids 30 years ago.

Obviously I don’t expect the rest of the country to have those same numbers.

Kids today aren’t playing little league baseball like they were 30+ years ago. This is an issue for baseball.

Srsly? It’s a lot bigger than it was 30 years ago in my neck of the woods.

I think you’re overthinking this.
ChatGBT said WWE is more popular than UFC

That’s all I got.
Looks like he was their Saturday guy, unless he worked his way into Friday later in the year (haven’t checked).

But he was “2026 FIRST-TEAM ALL-SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE PITCHER”
Serna fills a need and brings three years of SEC experience. I’ll take it.

MLB clubs on the other hand have every incentive to develop kids and promote them through the minors as quickly as possible.

Yea but if the kid didn’t sign for $500,000+ they get about a year or two to put up or shut up and then get kicked to the curb like an old recliner.

Then they’re all of a sudden 20 years old, unemployed, girlfriend left them, and they’re a freshman with no eligibility left.

He only played bc Vaughn loved him.

His backup was a freshman — hit .200 and committed 2 errors in 9 appearances… sported a .333 fielding%

Also if you ever got to games early enough to watch warmups, there was a noticeable difference between the two.

But yea Torres only played because Vaughn loved him.

Not trashing Barnett. He was young and has potential. Highly rated out of HS.

College baseball wouldn't fully blow up until they move the start of the season back a month. That's when you get the interest of the midwest and northeast TV markets.

Yep. Move it back a month. And when school is out, do away with the shitty midweek games. Insert more conference games. Develop more pitchers (there’s going to be more pitchers available). Right now a team can get through most of the season with two quality weekend starters.

But in the post season and especially the CWS you really need four good starters and 3-4 good arms out of the pen.

So when school is out and travel is easier, how about two midweek conference games + your regular fri/sat/sun games.

Product would be better, atmosphere would be better. TV would be better.

And do it all with wood bats.
MLB needs to give NCAA an allowance for wood bats since they’re going to be developing all of their talent.

Make it happen.

No more aluminum.
Can we just stop pointing fingers at any player or coach on a damn CWS team?

Y’all act like we’re LSU and get there every other year.

There are certainly positions where I wish we had an “upgrade” and there’s some players that were forced into positions they shouldn’t have been in due to injuries.

27 years fellas

Still grateful as frick for the experience this year and excited for Opening Day 2027.

Already a good start to the transfer portal as well.

Let’s enjoy the ride.
UNC is going to be sipping mimosas and getting spa treatment for the next couple days while OU and UGA are going Rocky vs Drago
UGA, Texas, and OU should sue the NCAA for letting UNC waltz into the championship while they have to duke it out for 12 drag out rounds.

How do you actually measure whether the hitting coach is doing good or bad? Some of the players have private hitting coaches once they break for the offseason and some go work on their swing in the offseason on their own. There's only so much a hitting coach can fix and what he can fix is with minor adjustments and mental approach advice. How much one on one time do college hitting coaches actually spend with each player?

Bingo

Who the frick is “yall”?

Would anyone trade Vaughn straight up for either the Troy or Southern Miss head coach?

No.

I posted the other day that I wouldn’t mind having Meade on deck if Vaughn ever bolts, but I’m honestly not sure. Dude kinda seems like a prick.

Based on CRV’s recent comments, it seems like he likes it here and really wants to build something special here.
