Get no Spurrier was still alive. Still hard to tell.

Arch was a freshman. Most coaches tend to go with the experienced arms and give their future QB limited experience. I don’t see the issue. Spurrier did the same with Tebow.

LOL. Spurrier was long gone from Florida when Tebow was there.

That old bastard is still alive and slinging insults? He’s going down slower than Bobby Knight did.

Yea, ok, it always works this way. Cam Newton couldn't beat out John Brantley for 2nd team at Florida. Tebow couldn't beat out Chris Leak, Burrow couldn't beat out anybody at Ohio State, Peyton Manning couldn't beat out Jerry Colquitt or Todd Helton at UT. Heck, he even split time Brandon Stewart when both were freshmen. Danny Wuerffell struggled to beat out Terry Dean. Sometimes it takes a minute to click. If Spurrier's methodology held true then every team would digress every year because of starters leaving. He talks out of his arse too much.

Cam was the the primary backup for Tebow to start both 2007 and 2008, not Brantley. Cam got the the snaps before Brantley in the 2008 opener vs Hawaii but was injured and took a medical redshirt. Then he got arrested and the shite show began. Brantley never beat out Cam. So the only person who beat Cam out was one of the the best QBs in college history.

Urban Meyer coached that team. Spurrier left Florida in 2001.

He may be right. When he had Tim Tebow and Chris Leak he made sure Tim got to play QB a bit. Though I think most (maybe even all) would agree that Leak performed better than Ewers as a college QB. Tim played in all 14 games, really mostly as a runner from the QB position. But the numbers, when you look at total yards and total TDs, are comparable between Tebow and Manning, with Tebow's rushing yards and TDs far outpacing Manning's, but Manning's passing numbers far outpacing Tebow's. I do think Manning was and is being overrated due to his name and family lineage but he is still potentially at least a good QB. But it wouldn't hurt my feelings if he had a less than stellar year.

Spurrier didn't coach Tebow

Tebow didn't have the opportunity to start any games with Leak ever being out in 2006. Manning got the bulk of his stats in when he started vs LA Monroe and the worst team in the SEC. After that, he didn't get a single pass attempt in his final 7 games of the season. Most of the reason sophomore Manning outpaced true freshman Tebow in their respective seasons was out of necessity with Ewers being out.

This is about College football, Boutte. Which college championships did either win?

The best QB in any given year rarely wins the national championship in college football. You would say Jayden Daniels was the best in 2023, right? He never sniffed a championship as a college player. Didn't even get to the playoffs his Heisman year.

You old guys remember the Brock Berlin and Rex Grossman debate when Spurrier was the coach at Florida? Fans wondered why Grossman started ahead of Berlin. Lots of fans complaining saying Berlin was better. Well Spurrier started Berlin at some point and it was obvious the coach was correct in starting Grossman. Manning could be the same
