How much overtime are cushy desk job hourly employees working? I’ve never seen this personally. My overtime was always working an additional shift at the bar during holidays. The desk people always went home.

So much propaganda here sold to you by PBS. Right to vote? Look up poll taxes and literacy tests used in both the North and South. Also blacks elected in Reconstruction were Union puppets meant to humiliate Southern government. No blacks were elected to Congress for 28 years after Reconstruction anywhere in the country. As for owning land and businesses, that was technically true but Plessy v Ferguson was the law of the land so even in the North your business was treated as “separate but equal.”

Again, the idea that the North were heroic good guys sacrificing themselves to give blacks all the rights they had is a fairy tale Yankees tell themselves to feel good.

Surely you aren’t serious? This is completely aimed at the blue collar and working class. OT is a reward for working extra, beyond the typical 40 hour. Someone who busts their arse in a plant for a 50-60 hour week will appreciate not having the “privilege” of paying more to the federal government to support transgender mice research. And they’ll appreciate way more than a salaried manager who pushes a pencil in an air conditioned office.

Let’s be honest. A large number of people are completely irresponsible. They spend $20 a day on cigarettes and buy a new truck every 3 years or get a new iPhone every 2 years. They go on family vacations to the beach or mountains twice a year when they don’t have $1000 in their checking account. They blow money on all kinds of impulsive purchases but then say they can’t find any way to save for retirement.
