re: Dad joke thread. What’s the worst part of playing tag with clowns?

A burglar breaks into a house. He begins to search the home for valuables when hears a quiet voice say,
“Jesus is watching you.”
He dismisses it as paranoia and carries on with his crime. He hears the voice again,
“Jesus is watching you.”
He’s knows this time it’s not in his head so he looks around the room and sees a parrot in the corner. He walks over to the parrot and it repeats one more time,
“Jesus is watching you”.
The burglar says to the parrot,
“Is your name Jesus?”
“No it’s Moses,” the parrot answers.
The burglar laughs and says,
“Who names a parrot Moses?” and the parrot says,
“The same person who named the Rottweiler Jesus.”
“Jesus is watching you.”

managing the social and emotional damage that many kids bring to the table?
This is why public school education is failing. Parents are abdicating their responsibility and foisting it upon the schools.
They then blame the schools when their children go bad. It is not a school’s responsibility to provide counseling and therapy to correct bad, or absent parenting.
Private schools don’t have this problem because they can simply refuse admission to problematic children. They are then enrolled in public schools where they interact with poor students who have had even poorer parenting.
Damaged children are disastrous for the public educational process. They should be removed from the classroom and their parents should be told they’ll have to home school them.
This puts the burden on the parent, who is responsible for the problem in the first place. We know they won’t but the result will be the same. Those kids will become criminals or the dregs of society.
On the plus side, teachers will be able to teach and students will be able to learn.

College sports is declining faster and faster. This is another step towards its ruination.

At this point these Bowl Games are just exhibition.
This has got to be affecting attendance. No way I would travel to Nashville to watch UK scrimmage with Iowa. Their fans apparently feel the same. May be a record low attendance for the Music City Bowl.

That proves nothing. It's semantics. Timespan measurement begins at zero, but the first year is referred to as year 1 not year 0. For example, year 1 of life begins at birth, not when your 1 year birthday arrives. Year 2 begins at one year of age.
I agree with your reasoning and it isn’t semantics.
The first decade of the Gregorian calendar began on January 1, 1. It ended on December 31, 10.
The second decade began on January 1, 11 and ended on December 31, 20.
The third decade began on January 1, 21 and ended on December 31, 30.
The first century began on January 1, 1 and ended on December 31, 100.
The second century began on January 1, 101 and ended on December 31, 200.
The third century began on January 1, 201 and ended on December 31, 300.
The twentieth century began on January 1, 1901 and ended on December 31, 2000.
The twenty-first century began on January 1, 2001 and will end on December 31, 2100.

That’s absolutely correct. Russia, more explicitly Putin, is responsible for this war and will be defeated.
While I long for direct action by the West against Putin’s minions, I understand the effect that a military defeat under the name Ukraine will have a much more resounding effect upon the Russian people and their military than a NATO intervention would.
Russia must be defeated, soundly. They are under the illusion that they are a superpower and cannot be defeated.
An emphatic defeat by a Ukraine, even if it is heavily backed by the West, will have a profound effect upon Russian society.

Yes, of course they are. And the West is systematically disassembling the Russian military by training, arming, directing and supplying the Ukrainian army; helping them more than match the bigger Russian military force.
Without the West, the Ukrainians would have lost very quickly. So, yes, they are our proxy in this West/Russia conflict.
Oh, BTW, you jerk.

The war, which I don’t follow as closely as I would like, seems to be reaching a stalemate. This being the case, that’s not good in the long term for anyone but Russia as they can sustain losses on a scale Ukraine cannot hope to match for long.
This is actually a war between the West and Russia. Ukrainian troops are the proxy soldiers for the West.
However, the British have admitted to covert operations in Ukraine. LINK
Things are changing as Russia gets more desperate.

This is not a political thread. It’s about the events occurring in Ukraine because of Russia’s invasion.
War is not political. In this case, it’s an event wherein one party, Russia, is trying to forcibly take land and people from another party, Ukraine.
If the politards will stay out of the thread, we can limit discussion to this very important event which is affecting the entire world.

I agree. There are rhinoviruses and old coronaviruses aplenty out there. They didn’t go away.
Old wives tale: A cold is three days coming, three days here, and three days going. You’ll feel fine within a week.
