Danny Ford's Arkansas team scored against SMU and he didn't know it, so he called a running play for the PAT. ...something like that.

or that Sumlin coached against Florida and LSU.

Not a coaching blunder. We just got beat. Sumlin did a great job last year imho.

Be glad Garcia came in and saved our asses vs ECU in Shaw's first start.

This has to be one of the biggest myths in Gamecock football history.

Garcia's stats for the game: 7/15 110 yards 1 TD

I sense a spin-off: "Questionable coaching calls that worked out in your teams favor"

Pretty much this would be only about Les Miles.

The aforementioned fake FG at Florida. How did he practice the bounce pass?

How many times did Les go for it on fourth down against FL in '07?

Tennessee in '10.

Gotta love the Hat though.

Last play of the 2012 SEC Championship game. Spike. The. Ball. Instead, that hurry-up play very likely cost UGA an MNC.

I actually think it was a good call not to spike at the time. For one the QB was hot and had guided the dawgs right down the field. Stopping play would have given you 2 attempts, but you risk messing the O's momentum and give Alabama a chance to draw something up

Garcia should have lost his starting job, permenantly, after the second fumble against Auburn in 2010 at Auburn. Shaw should have started every game since IMHO.

I agree that Shaw should have played way more after that game. Was in attendance and couldn't believe Garcia fumbled that second one.

The real head-scratcher is Garcia getting any playing time after throwing 4 picks against Vandy the week prior to Auburn in 2011. Should have gotten benched during the game

Not spiking the damn ball in the SEC Championship game this past year.

A great choice. AM spikes the ball and UGA gets 2 or possibly 3 more SET plays. The way they had been moving the ball a TD is likely and UGA wins the NC.

ETA: I couldn't believe the receiver actually caught the ball at the time. Ended the game.

Beter than telling you qb to spike it with no time left. Les vs ole miss.

But dinardo hiring lou tepper might be biggest blunder ever.

And Shaw's were what? 3/9 for 21 yards?

You also neglect to mention Garcia's 5 rushes for 56 yards and 2 TDs.

The team reacted to Garcia's presence on the field, as did the fans, that is indisputable.

But letting a receiver throw the ball against a defense like LSU's was stupid that late in a tie ball game.

No. No it wasn't. Maze had thrown a TD on that exact same play against Florida. It was a fantastic call and it was there, but a great rush by the end made Maze loft the ball more than was ideal, and a great play in the secondary made the pick. Those things happen.

-The infamous Jasper Sanks handoff vs Auburn in 2001.
-Willie Martinez doing absolutely nothing to defend short passes vs Alabama in 2008.
-Numerous games where UGA forgot to get off the bus in time for the game (notably 2005 WVU, 2007 Tennessee, 2012 S Car)
-Getting beaten in every way possible by Boise fricking State.
-Going ultra conservative in overtime with a terrible kicker against Michigan State.
-Not providing max protection for David Greene in a very winnable game vs LSU in 2003.

Addressing the OPs choice, I think it was a great play call. If the receiver would've just held on to it

If Jason Barnes catches that first pass then Garcia never sees the field in 2011

One long td run accounted for most of the yards and it was on a read option, something Shaw did/does better than Garcia.

I dispute it. Put simply we stopped turning the ball over and ECU started turning the ball over. It was only a coincidence that Garcia was put in and ECU started putting the ball on the ground. Not like he was out there on defense.

Same here. Lost it and flipped the frick out. One of my worst meltdowns ever without a doubt. Total loss of control and fortunately I was watching the game at home and not in public.
