Ballsy send there. Hicklen beat the throw!

This team is way too talented to be a bottom half offense in MLB
Is it though? Is this team really that talented? It isn't 2023 anymore. Riley and Albies are shells of what they used to be. Yaz is washed. There are only three potential difference making hitters on this team now (Acuna, Olson, Baldwin).

Sale does not have it tonight. Extremely rare sight.

We need to overhaul our offensive approach imo. This team is built to slug and it feels like when we aren’t hitting a ton of home runs our offense is dreadful.
AA long termed a lineup full of sluggers right as the league was changing the rules to create more action on the bases. I think the league deadening the balls after the 2023 season really, really, really screwed this team up.
They mashed the hell out of the ball in 2024 but since the balls weren't as juiced, they didn't have the results to show for it. Firing Seitzer and hiring Hyers, signing Profar and Kim, etc... were reactions to that.
I think the team knows this is a problem but doesn't know what to do about it other than blowing up this core.

Back when VT was good, it seemed like they always got one or two marque home games on Thursday nights and it was always electric..

I am specifically calling out the ease of which people just throw up their hands and give up, despite all the times they've been proven wrong this season.
I think this is a continuation of what everyone (except the front office, seemingly) has seen for the last three seasons. This offense has been flat out bad and there is no end in sight. This core needs to be blown up and that probably needed to happen going into this season.

But there are lots of flawed teams, and these overreactions consistently fail to take into account the problems that other teams have
I don't particularly care about problems other teams have. I care about problems the Braves have.

Imagine that… Hitting home runs with guys on base. Must be nice.
That would require getting baserunners to begin with. We're the 2nd worst team in the league at this since May 1.

Arkansas might be one of the shittiest SEC teams in recent memory.
Kirby has never been one to run the score up, but he might make an exception for Arkansas after Ryan Silverfield popped off at the mouth about UGA last season when he was at Memphis.
This game already feels like it's over. The Braves probably won't score 3 runs tonight.

The biggest problem with this offense is because their OBP is so bad, their floor is being the worst offense in baseball.
There is nothing to fall back on when they aren't slugging. They don't take walks, they're an atrocious baserunning team, they don't move runners, etc....

There’s just something off about them this season.
They look like they're playing with their food until October starts.

This team is a true contender. It may not be the team you wished it was, but they have a solid shot at the World Series. More often than not, the team with the best regular season record doesn’t win the World Series.
The offense has been one of the worst in baseball for most of the season. Since the year 2000, of the 52 teams to participate in the World Series, the 2014 Giants had the lowest OBP at .311. The 2026 Braves have a season OBP of .310, and it is .303 since May 1.
You can't win if you can't get on base.
Only three World Series participants in that time frame had a worse OPS for the season than this year's Braves team (.719); 2014 SF, 2014 KC, 2015 NYM

In other news, due to the massive moves made at the trade deadline the Braves are now out of contention for a bye.
Honestly, what needed to be done to make this team a true contender was probably impossible at the deadline. Going into next season, this team needs two significant corner outfield bats (one to play LF full time, one to cover RF if/when Acuna misses a chunk of time) and will need to significantly upgrade at least one of 2B and 3B.

but my understanding is this is a one year only sort of situation
For now.
When JJ McCarthy inevitably gets cut by the Vikings, what will stop him from suing for more college eligibility and judge shopping until he finds one who graduated from Michigan who will rule him eligible?
I'd bet my mortgage on a scenario like this unfolding within the next 5 years.

I'm not saying you have to take him in but we should take care of our fellow Americans when they can't.
People like you who don't understand the difference between can't and won't are a huge problem.
