I'd love to chunk that into a school of bull reds in the fall. It would have to be really heavy duty to last more than a few of those brutes..

I am going to paint up and build some of the 3/4 ounce ones that I have and try it with the reds here. That 2oz is honestly just too big for casting a lot. Especially in shallow water. I have some 1oz as well.

I have had reds hit my normal frame spinnerbait and caught the on it. They are just not build for that kind of punishment though. I will see how these heavy duty ones work.

Ive been on a ~ 3 year mission to figure out how to destroy mangrove snapper on artificial. No luck yet.

Yeah, they really seem to be carnivores. I will catch inshore grouper on a swim bait at times but never the mangrove snapper. Seems like it has to be alive or cut bait.

I could also rig this bait with a swim bait body instead of a skirt. I'm planning on trying that as well. I could switch up the size of the swim bait and the blade to adjust the depth.

Hell, you could even put a sardine or something on the back of it.

Heavy Duty Offshore Spinnerbait?

I have a bunch of these heads and Id like to do something with them. They were originally designed and built for using in South America in the Amazon for peacock bass. The one below is a 2 ounce head and I put a number five willow blade on them just for starters. The actual weight of the finished spinnerbait is closer to 2.5 ounces.

The wire is very thick. Close to .058" which is thicker than most buzzbait wire. Also, it has a heavy duty saltwater hook. I painted a few up and plan on trying to use them in some way next week when I get back out in the gulf

What would you do with these where you fish? I think here, I could get them on the bottom since I dont fish as deep as you guys do. Could be fun to try

For comparison, the bottom picture is one beside our freshwater spinnerbait. LOL.

I also have some of these heads with the same wire, and hook in a three-quarter ounce and a 1 ounce version.

Unless you run a boat 4-5 days a week. Then it gets a little more sticky

I hate full moons.

I guided freshwater for a very long time. Thousands and thousands of trips. I also kept pretty good records. For that time, at least 90% of the real "Big" fish that were caught on my trips were caught in a period of 3 days before the full moon to 3 days after. That 6-7 day period accounted for the majority of the true trophy fish that were caught on my trips

As for tidal movement for me. I prefer the incoming tide inshore here and for offshore, as long as its moving. Doesnt matter to me which direction

Morning everyone.

Echoes is my favorite song of all time. This is my favorite playing

As far as a song that I hate the most of all time, I honestly do not have one

Hunter smoked their asses. Next week's gonna be a blast. I usually watch the races on Sunday, but I will probably tune in live next Saturday. Going to be a awesome finish.

I was already giving them the scraps and eggs as I went along. There is just no need to try and get my fillets. Bastards
Morning everyone..... We finally got a few hours of rain yesterday. As far as I can remember, thats the most we have had since last October. No shite.

Did battle after a charter trip Friday with a Snowy Egret. Little bastards try to steal my fillets at the dock when I am cleaning the catch. They just stand there beside the table waiting on me to turn my head and they grab a fillet off the table. Had a big pile of snapper fillets and one tried his luck. Like a dumbass, I instinctively swung my right hand toward him, while holding my fillet knife and jabbed the knife through my left hand.. I can't even tell you how many fish I have cleaned in my life and never cut myself once. And I did not cut myself this time, I stabbed myself.

So, I cleaned my hand with some alcohol wipes, wrapped it up and finish filling the fish for the customers. Took the boat to Boat Storage and headed to the emergency care facility where they put six stitches in my palm.

Now it's personal with these bitches

Also just remember that pruning is good for pretty much all trees. Replacing old tissue with new tissue reduces spots where disease can enter. Pruning keeps them young and healthy. Just make sure you know what generation of wood your tree fruits on before cutting.

Man I dont know jack about trees and very little about any thing else with this stuff but I will say that statement is dead on with my flowers around my house. Ive had some pretty shitty looking plants around the yard and every one of them that I prune back, comes back amazing. I had some Hibiscus bushes on the side of my house that have very few leaves and none at the bottom. I cut the down to the ground in March. There was not one single leaf on them. Just sticks coming out of the ground. Now they look amazing with tons of leaves and flowers already blooming

Solid advice
