It's an hour drive versus a 3 1/2 hour drive from Tuscaloosa is what I think he's getting at.

A more likely comparison would have been around the '89 seasons with Stallings and Spurrier arriving at their respective schools. Neither was on top, facilities weren't up to par, etc.

That's fair. But you get my point. Recent success has improved a lot of things at Bama. I think if someone could go into Florida and produce like Spurrier or Meyer, they would start to catch up in some areas where they're lacking as of now.

Despite their significant in-state recruiting advantage, I feel like it's easier to win at Alabama than it is at Florida. Since Bryant, every coach who's coached at Alabama had at least one ten-win season by their fourth year. The overall support for the football program is really second to none. A coach is given every tool at their disposal to succeed. Even if you're a below average coach, you're going to have some success.

Not a fan of either school but Alabama is a much better job because of the support the Administration gives to the football program. Not as much at any other SEC school, IMO. Georgia definitely did not BUT some of that changed before Kirby took the job.

With now four other D-1 programs(and they all want to be good)in the state the recruiting is not like it was 25 years ago.

Nah,Not real concerned about either Southern or Ga State putting a dent in our recruiting and 25 years ago we probably had half the amount of D1 prospects in state.

Fla. is inherently better and once Saban is gone the differences will eventually any play out.

Football? Alabama. Even in down years.

Everything else? Florida.

That’s not a legit question. The legit question would be which job would you take if Saban quit tomorrow. UF for me. No way I follow Saban.

Could you not say the same thing about Florida? They only had 1 national championship until 2006. If you want to take away Saban, then take away Meyer as well

Bama wasn't a premier for several years before Saban. Florida was a shite show before Spurrier. LSU is a better job than both. Saban has said so himself

If football were the only thing going on, and I could have a medically induced coma during the off-season it’d be Bama by a mile. But neither of those things are true. Tuscaloosa is a ghetto arse hell hole surrounded by cudzoo and has absolutely nothing going on except for tide football. I can still remember the tide players saying that the one thing they’d remember about New Orleans before a sugarbowl game was all of the Popeyes chicken. If that’s your highlight from going to NOLA, you know their standards are low.

If you could take over for Saban with his roster, you’d have guaranteed success for a couple years, so in that sense Bama is the better job.

Long term Florida. For reasons already laid out.

Also worth noting that while Florida is rich with talent, you have to split it with Jimbo, Richt, Kirby, Saban, meyer, and the Michigan frickstick.

Florida's in-state talent is greater. However, it's not the huge advantage that some people think it is. You have 3 major programs (UF, FSU, UM) plus 2 solid mid-tier programs (USF, UCF) splitting the talent pie. Also, everybody comes to Florida to recruit. Much more than OOS poaching within Alabama.
Foley left the football facilities in a mess.
Bama is a better job by a huge margin.

It's cyclical. Ask this question 10 years ago when Urban was winning championships and reeling in elite talent every year and the Gator brand was at an all-time high thanks to the football and basketball programs, the answer would have been obvious.

A couple of bad coaching hires in football, Billy Donovan leaving for the NBA, Foley retiring, and us getting complacent and not keeping up with the facilities arms race has dropped the perception of the program.
