re: It's all on Woodward

Posted by nitwit on 11/12/25 at 8:42 am to
Woody and the BOS are responsible for the price tag on getting Kelly out.
But Landry is responsible for the circus and long lasting damage to the LSU brand in his inept handling of this fiasco.
As of now it appears that the greater, longer lasting damage is self inflicted by Jeff Landry, not Woodward. And that's before we know how badly he has crippled our efforts to hire a top HC.
Ok, if i am following this and LPR article fully, this was all Sleepy Joe Biden's fault?
Landry has done more damage to the LSU brand in the last 3 weeks than all the governors combined since Huey Long. And its not over ...
So, fire him for cause and tade discovery to see if there is any factual basis for the claim? Yeah, that sounds like a wise, good faith litigation position...

With the coaching changes on offense over the prior week, this is not at all surprising. I can cut the offensive coaches some slack right now, except for Davis.

Nuss just has awful instincts in the pocket.
And he doesn’t have athletic skills to mitigate against his reliably terrible impulses.
He is the anti- Jayden Daniels.

re: Why is Frank Wilson so revered?

Frank is a nice guy who relates well to lots of people. Very likeable. He’s also a good father figure to lots of young athletes, These are valuable qualities, but they never constitute adequate qualifications to serve as a HC at a good program. Hope he stays on in some capacity.
Whether you adjudge Verge as "good people" or not, he does not have qualifications to serve as the AD of one of the top ten athletic programs in the country. This job is not easy and it requires serious business acumen dealing with national heavyweights and fundraising ability. Being "one of us" will not cut it at this position.
We continually make it harder for us to find an elite HC at a time when the market is not exactly swimming with them.
Landry has already created an environment where a top HC candidate has to worry about who all his "bosses" really are and how politics might create complications for him. And as important as money is, the top coaches want to know they have a great AD to work for directly, and one with good business acumen and huge fundraising ability. Verge ain' t that guy.
Of course, it doesn't matter if Landry is just gonna hire Frank and go cheap.
None of these finalists are impressive.
When Landry ran Tate off, a lot of talented people took notice.
Talented coaches and ADs see the politics, too, and it is not helpful.
This REALLY sounds like bad news for LSU for years to come.
McNeese takeover?

Hiring an elite HC for a football program does not admit to transparency, and for good reason.
Its stupid to think this is the environment for that.
This is the dilemma.
Scott is FAR more capable than Landry and his hacks.
But he has created some of the most expensive errors in amateur athletic history
Horrible mistakes of judgment.
We certainly don’t need Landry near this process.
We need an AD who is highly capable and accountable.
How do we get that without Landry pulling the strings?

Yeah.
These issues do not get worked out in an impromptu Sunday meeting lasting an hour or two. Kelly has to be confronted with accusations, consult with counsel and negotiate with LSU.
Absent REALLY compelling moral/ ethical issues ( not an affair) this takes weeks, at best . Tens of millions of dollars are at stake.
The part about negotiating down 26 million dollars in a single impromptu meeting seems implausible.
Kelly is going to have his lawyers weigh in on stuff like this and one would expect a lot of back and forth for that kind of money. UNLESS, BK had been confronted with morals clause issues on one or more prior occasions .

Seems to me this stuff could not have been kept quiet. The article is full of "i heard...", which reeks of rumor, at best.
