Weirdest away team fanbase you've ever seen at your team's tailgate area

Back in 2011, BYU came to Oxford to watch us be savage drunken heathens.

Thousands of weird arse Mormans were walking around the Grove in white t-shirts while we were getting trashed, because nobody gave a shite about our shitty football team at that time. I remember being obnoxiously drunk and seeing groups of Mormons just stare at me with a harsh judgy cult-like stare.

Never seen a culture clash quite like that.

I was at the Grove that day as well and we invited some BYU fans (not sure if they were Mormons) to tailgate with us. They were very friendly and appreciative of the hospitality. They complained about the heat, as, IIRC, it was a very muggy day. Hell, a few BYU fans even did jello shots with us.

One time I met a dude who did undergrad at BYU who told me he never watched pron. obviously I didn’t believe him but it’s weird he even tried to get it passed me. He was really religious.

I had a fling with a mormon girl that transferred to Tennessee and lived with her sister there. We did a maymester class together and there wasn't shite else going on in the summer so we started hanging out. She was very mormon but kind've a freak, she just had a strong line in the sand drawn and wouldnt let you go past that but up to that point was really into it. Her biggest problem she had with not sinning was she liked diet mountain dew. It was odd. She was super cool though. Fun summer.

Aggies.

And not even close.

I've known normal Aggies, but I've had some weird, cultish Aggies come to our tailgate and they just creep me out.

Yeah that same dude never drank coffee because apparently caffeine is a sin? That blew my mind. I probably snorted an 8 ball the night before I met him.

Penn State
Their fans absolutely trashed the Alabama campus when they visited ten years ago or whatever.

They left trash everywhere, it was like they had no idea that going to a football game didn't give random people the right to just drop their beers and and whatever else wherever they happened to be like a two year old.

Never seen any SEC fanbase win or lose do that.

Notre Dame
Their fans in 2012 in Miami at the NC game actually dumped their tailgating trash into piles in the parking lot and some of them threw burning charcoal on the garbage to the point that walking out through the parking lot after the game was almost post apocalyptic.

Not sure if they just didnt want to drive or fly back with it, but starting garbage bonfires was not what I expected from private school fans with the means to attend a NC game.

Also saw multiple fans escorted out of a luxury box at halftime for blacking out or starting fights which was a new one. Again, not saying all their fans are that way but it wasn't a good impression and I've been on the road to most of the SEC and a number of venues in the B10.

People who live in the Big 10 areas from Illinois to the east are mostly trashy.

College, nothing really sticks out but visiting Cleveland Browns fans are like the Drew Carey show on steroids. Super cool people but all of them were so damn quirky in their own way.

West Virginia.

Surprisingly hospitable for games in Morgantown, but unashamedly trashy when they’re the visiting team

Did she introduce you to soaking? And have her sister jump on the bed for you?

Yeah, they kind of sucked.

On the opposite end of the spectrum are the Oklahoma fans. They were great.

While this board loves to give A&M a tough time, their fanbase is easily and without question the friendliest visiting group of fans I've ever interacted with.

Its like a giant boy scout troop showing up for a football game.

The Texas fans I met this past season were great too. One gent even brought an actual longhorn and was giving kids free rides not far from the quad. Was a huge hit with the kids :)

Something I will never forget.

In 1979 I was driving back from Florida to Oklahoma during Christmas break. Alabama had just beaten Penn State in the Sugar Bowl to claim the national championship.

I decided to stop by the Alabama campus on my way back to visit an OU friend who was in grad school.

He took me on a jog walk tour of the campus on the next Sunday morning after the game. We noticed that some Penn State fans had come through Tuscaloosa on their way to New Orleans and had defaced the Bama campus... spray painting "We are Penn State" in a number of places.

Pretty much gave me a negative image of Penn State right then and there.
