But during the game I asked multiple people around at various tailgate points if anyone knew whether the Indiana Hoosiers vs Oregon Ducks game was on at a local bar.

This was a top-ten matchup with major national implications. Complete crickets. Nobody knew, nobody cared, nobody was even curious.

You went to one game and, while in the stadium, asked people if they knew where to watch another game?

This level of weaponized autism needs to be harnessed by our overlords in DC to defend our country.

To me, it's more annoying when they go to Schtate.

Look at the dynamite defensive players they've had just since 2009, all from tha 'Sip.

Johnthan Banks (Thorpe Award winner)
Fletcher Cox (future NFL Hall of Famer)
Pernell McPhee (via JUCO, but played in 141 NFL games)
Benardrick McKinney (Pro Bowler)
Chris Jones (future NFL Hall of Famer)
KJ Wright (Pro Bowler)
Jeff Simmons (Three-time All-Pro, arguably on his way to the Hall of Fame)
Gabe Jackson (136 NFL games played)
Denico Autry (via JUCO, but played in 154 NFL games)
Willie Gay, Jr. (89 NFL games)
JT Gray (103 NFL games)
Jonathan Abram (55 NFL games)

Conversely, here are our best Mississippian defensive players since 2009:
DJ Jones (via JUCO, but 125 games played)

I know we've won more games than them recently and our program looks to be in a better place, but we still miss on a ton of in-state, front seven talent.

I think that was due to it being a highly ranked win vs because it was Ole Miss.

IDGAF that y'all stormed the field. I'm glad y'all want to beat us. frick y'all.

And A&M’s also, both rejoice in beating LSU

But the truth is Ole Miss is LSU's Super Bowl too. Recently, y'all have rushed the field after beating more often than we have when we beat y'all.

Elite depth on the DL and in the front seven is the only way to consistently win in this conference. We've been losing out on in-state front seven guys for years. It's majorly frustrating.

Ole Miss signees/total in-state four-star or greater front seven players
2026 - 1/5
2025 - 1/3
2024 - 4/5
2023 - 1/3
2022 - 2/5
2021 - 0/1
2020 - 1/3
2019 - 0/7
2018 - 0/2
2017 - 0/1
Total - 10/35 (28.6%)

I know recruiting is different now with NIL and the portal, but damn, it's frustrating to lose these elite in-state defensive lineman.

Wasn’t it right after USC or whenever those voicemails got released?

I've never heard of this.

And I know he had the one rehab for drugs and I don’t think he’s touched them for a long time, but I’m not sure about alcohol?

I'm not aware of Lane Kiffin ever going to rehab.

I will be 100% transparent on this. If I was a part of that program in anyway whatsoever, I would want to beat the frick out of LSU in every game for the rest of my life.

Some of the new guys - and there will be many - might not GAF. Some of the returning players might treat it just like another game. I know our coaching staff will work hard have our players treat it like any other game. If not, we'll run the risk of being too uptight.

I'm cynical. I think a lot of the guys are just mercenaries now with no real regard for the school. I hope I'm wrong.

But I know I'm not wrong about what the fans want this year. We can go 1-11 for all I care, but I know which game better be that one.

INB4 some fellow Rebs call me a loser. I'm just being honest. I want to beat LSU and call our timeouts before the clock expires just to rub it in.

Of the 2027 in-state class, the top 7 are front seven or OL players.

We need them all.
I don't think there is any doubt the fans want to win on September 19 more than any game maybe ever.

I don't know how the staff and players feel.
Years ago, I analyzed his stats in his 15 or so games against Ole Miss. I don't exactly remember, but I think he hit about .580 something and stole 20 bases or something stupid like that.

Now that is an OL.
Of all the great signal callers who’ve suited up for the Tide, you choose Brodie Croyle as your guy to run this hypothetical offense?

Also, are you aware Bama had just a few standout OL before the Saban era?

But growing up as a kid in the 80s and teenager in the 90s, TSIO, meant more in terms of national prestige imo(a few times the Iron bowl was between top ten teams during that but not like TSIO) and I developed more "hatred" for Tenner during that time.

Both games had the same amount of ranked v. ranked matchups in 1980s and 1990s. This is not to mention when Bama and Auburn came into the game ranked v. ranked, it was the final game of the regular season.

TSIO Ranked v. Ranked Matchups in the 1980s and 1990s
1985 - #20 Tennessee 16, #15 Alabama 14
1989 - #10 Alabama 47, #6 Tennessee 30
1991 - #14 Alabama 24, #8 Tennessee 19
1992 - #4 Alabama 17, #13 Tennessee 10
1993 - #10 Tennessee 17, #12 Alabama 17 (a tie!)
1995 - #6 Tennessee 41, #11 Alabama 14
1996 - #6 Tennessee 20, #7 Alabama 13
1999 - #5 Tennessee 21, #10 Alabama 7

Iron Bowl Ranked v. Ranked Matchups in the 1980s and 1990s
1983 - #3 Auburn 23, #19 Alabama 20
1986 - #14 Auburn 21, #7 Alabama 17
1987 - #7 Auburn 10, #18 Alabama 0
1988 - #7 Auburn 15, #17 Alabama 10
1989 - #11 Auburn 30, #2 Alabama 20
1993 - #6 Auburn 22, #11 Alabama 14
1994 - #4 Alabama 21, #6 Auburn 14
1995 - #21 Auburn 31, #17 Alabama 27

Bama fans my age bracket(40s) and older, are split on who they despise the most. Some, like me consider Tennessee as our biggest rival because the "Third Saturday in October" meant more rankings and standings wise when I was growing up. To me, losing to Auburn is like losing to your little brother...just annoying. Losing to Tennessee when I was growing up and the few losses we have to yall lately, was always devastating in terms of national and conference standings and rankings.

The TSIO has a lot of vitriol, but Bama winning 17 straight games really neutralized it.

Some of us are old enough to remember when Alabama and Auburn did not play each other in football.

Maybe for just a few, but for anyone born in the 1960s or later, it's Auburn and it's not even close, except for maybe those Bama fans who live near an abundance of VFLs.

I mean, the last time Auburn and Bama didn't play was 1947 - 79 years ago.
It's easy to figure this out. Just look for classic "little brother" schools.

- Georgia Tech (Georgia's biggest rival is Florida or Auburn)
- Mississippi State (Ole Miss's biggest rival is LSU)
- LSU (Alabama's biggest rival is Auburn)
- Texas A&M (Texas's biggest rival is Oklahoma)
- Tennessee (Alabama's biggest rival is Auburn)
- Michigan State (Michigan's biggest rival is Ohio State)
- Oregon State (Oregon's biggest rival is Washington)
- UCLA (SC's biggest rival is Notre Dame)
- Miami (Florida State's biggest rival is Florida)
- Oklahoma State (Oklahoma's biggest rival is Texas)
- Vanderbilt (Tennessee's biggest rival is Alabama)
- Washington State (Washington's biggest rival is Oregon)
