Congrats on completely embarrassing yourselves in this thread, Longhorns. Keep it up, it’s all very entertaining.

now they have extended the language to the point of every good hit gets flagged.

Yeah I agree with this. It also seems they’re just throwing more flags in general. Even in the NFL. Every ticky tac thing is getting called and ruining the flow of the game.

Those are happening with or without targeting.

True, but the headshots give you more ammo because you can argue the governing body isn’t doing anything about it. And ftr, I’m not arguing for more targeting, but if I’m in charge of running this thing, I’d be thinking about how stuff like this impacts the sport 10 years down the road. There’s already way more kids getting held out of football by their parents out of fear of injury.

The other side to this is that these rule changes fundamentally ruin the game and that’s also true. I’m just trying to look at this from the perspective of the higher ups.
He gets so angry but he’s so tiny and un-intimidating

reason for all these God awful targeting calls,

No it’s probably fear of future lawsuits over CTE. And as much as we love those hits, it freaks casual people out and networks would rather not deal with that noise and bad publicity.
They didn’t, he’s just really stupid.

I saw them around the same time at the variety playhouse in ATL. Yow spent like half the show in the audience

The Jesus Lizard

Just put out a new single. First new release in 25 years. Got me wondering if any of y’all are/were familiar with them. One of my favorite bands of the late 80s/early 90s alternative underground. Definitely on the noisier side of that genre but they still had the songs to anchor the carnage. Just great, hard hitting, bass heavy punk-ish records that had way more discernible songwriting than your average punk/noise rock band. The new song isn’t quite equal to their peak years (91-94) but it makes me happy they’re still going for it, and David Yow still sounds like a drunken maniac on the mic.

Probably my favorite of theirs:

Might get anchored quick cuz they weren’t the most popular but I still wanted to ask.

Since then I've been a TH and David Byrne fan.

TH have always been cool as frick, just not in the stereotypical rockstar way. They’re cool because of how unique they were. Can’t speak on how they were perceived in the 80s cuz I wasn’t around.

Did any of y’all know any Butthole Surfers fans in the 80s? I have a book that claims you’d lose friends just for mentioning them back then

With that said, the following bands have become retroactively cool since then: Weezer, My Chemical Romance, Metallica, Limp Bizkit, All Time Low, Creed.

I know Weezer has a huge fanbase but I dunno if they’re considered “cool” now. They’ve always seemed like pencil necked dorks. Creed still gets shite on a lot in my experience. MCR is a good answer but not my taste at all. Limp Bizkit is more polarizing now, just depends on who you talk to. I actually like them more now than I did when I was younger (nonsensical, I know).

I think a good answer for this is the Pixies. They were before my time, but from what I understand they were just considered oddball weirdos that didn’t really fit in anywhere or in any specific scene. I know they eventually got some college radio play but never sold that many records. Nowadays they’re on the Mt. Rushmore of indie rock and absolutely rake on the reunion circuit.

All they have except for a bunch of rings in Olympic sports that no one cares about.

Oklahoma put a dagger in their chest a few weeks after anyway.

Kinda the opposite of this but I was floored when I learned that Owner of a Lonely Heart was a Yes song.
