That's why I mentioned the Arizona schools and Notre Dame. You can't concede the West entirely, and getting into their base territory would potentially force them to rethink. It's probably too far gone to knock them out, but you want to maintain parity so we'd have an equal footing on setting up the new system
SEC expansion has such a hard on for North Carolina...granted they are a good school, but the SEC could also expand westward easily with Kansas, Colorado, and Arizona State, all AAU universities

That is the one University that should be fought over by the SEC and B1G. The NYC television market is moved by the Hurricanes being good. Too much potential money sitting on the table for Miami not to be in your conference.
I don't think Miami fits the SEC at all...
Miami just recently became AAU...they are a prime B1G candidate. The only way the SEC adds them is in some kind of defensive maneuver

I'd bring over UNC, Duke, Virginia Tech and Clemson.
VT would be such a better SEC addition than crappy UVA IMO
besides academics, I don't see the allure of Virginia...the wine and cheese crowd, what Colin Cowherd called them lol

Scoob, thank you for being someone who gets it. The BIG is slowly putting the SEC on an island and the last 30 years of SEC glory won’t be able to save it no matter how many fans want to talk about past heydays. Right now today, the SEC has 1 legit title contender - UGA. That’s the same number as the ACC.
Hardly...
Texas is a legit contender. OU, A&M, and a few others could be knocking at the gate soon too

Top priorities for the SEC are UNC and Virginia. They bring in new, large, contiguous fan bases. 2nd tier is FSU and Clemson. That would give the SEC 20 teams in a new league. More depends on how many more teams are valuable enough for a new league.

Virginia is deadweight
Hokies > Cavs
not only does Virginia not draw eyeballs, they make your eyes bleed

Some of you simply don’t see the big picture when it comes to expansion. It isn’t just about who is good at football today or just about football. It’s about the school in general and money. You guys laugh at UVA but don’t realize they are freaking loaded. Just because they have been putting money elsewhere other than bagmen doesn’t mean they couldn’t pull an Indiana. No different than most of these huge SEC stadium type teams who fill a stadium six times a year but have mid level money.
And to the poster who said the SEC has multiple contenders this year - have you not been watching defense in the SEC the past several years? It doesn’t exist outside of Kirby. Until the SEC gets back to playing defense they are a pretender.

I just don't think they fit the SEC...just sounds like UGA has that media market covered. They tend to fit the Big 10 profile a little better, but I'm not sure how the Big 10 would even view them.
In what way would you say they don't fit the SEC but would fit better Big 10?

It is the Gem of the ACC.
Why?
Other than basketball and academics it's not much and their uniforms are "sissy blue" ugly.
The value of the ACC programs is difficult to measure. There are a lot of "use to be's" in terms of football, like FSU and Va Tech. Clemson may be added to that list given their current trend. Miami has had the most staying power over the 40 years and is a very good academic school.
I don't think media markets matter that much any more but a presence in Virginia or North Carolina wouldn't hurt.
Football is the "straw that stirs the drink" and, right now, only Miami can be considered truly relevant, unless Dabo and Clemson rebound and Franklin can resurrect Va Tech. FSU is facing an uphill battle. UNC was so stupid they hired a washed up NFL coaching legend and bonafide sourpuss.

GT and Miami are locks for the BIG? Both are AAU, both have money, both in a new region for the BIG, and both have shown a commitment to sports and more importantly both are highly ranked academic schools who bring in big money outside of sports. The SEC would be smart or get UNC and UVA. VT is an interesting case because they have a rabid fanbase and can be good at football but they bring absolutely nothing on the academic or outside money side of the equation.

We are in the 7th largest (and growing) media market in the US, I believe GT and Miami will be the BIG’s main targets from the ACC

UNC has not won an ACC title since 1982, how do you think they would fare in the SEC?

I just can’t believe how many people keep suggesting adding Duke football to the SEC, have you actually even thought about this?

Add Okstate and Tech/TCU for an 45% share instead of 100%. Those schools have the money and athletic facilities to host ncaa events in every sport, along with the fan bases (TCU is small).
The Arizona schools and Kansas go to the B1G. Big 12 becomes the G5 superstar conference. When Oklahoma State is having its worst 2 years historically in football and still has higher attendance than majority of its conference, it’s time to go.

Somebody needs to lose. Plus they'd be a good addition in basketball.

Unfortunately adding OK ST and TCU would reduce revenue share from the TV contracts which is what this is really all about.
If T Boone were still around yall would be dominating NIL, it’s a damn shame he died when he did because you could be on a Texas Tech level recruiting heater right now. But it also highlights the risks associated with being so dependent on one major booster.

The SEC was 4-10 last year in bowl games. The ACC was 9-5.
