Both of my daughters ended up attending UGA. My eldest recently graduated, the younger one is still living at the sorority house. Honestly, I’m not sure how they got in. I always thought UGA’s admission standards were high, and neither of my kids had the best grades or test scores (to make me happy, they applied to Tech even though they knew they wouldn’t get in). We’ve met many wonderful people at UGA, and I’ve become close friends with Hairy Dawg—he feels like a son to me. And although I could never bring myself to say “Go Dawgs” or wear red, I can at least pretend to support the Dawgs before kickoff. So, here I am, extending an open invitation for you to root for Georgia Tech this year. I’m sure you’re bored with the Dawgs, and we’re getting ready for war & another 7 or 8-win season. After all, the line between rivals and enemies can be thin.

Haynes King will continue to improve - he was basically unstoppable and had eliminated INTs before Notre Dame fricked him up. And now this season he will improve to avoid injuries. Haynes King is beyond reproach - off the field he ranks #1 & is a head coach in waiting. On the field he ranks w/ JT & Josh Nesbitt.
Why didn’t UGA pursue Buster Faulkner and Aaron Philo? Aaron Philo is genuinely one of the best quarterbacks around and GT’s backup. You might want to ask where he ranks too

Long story short, Lewdawg is the biggest dork around, and now that Dawgrant is dead, they've lifted my ban.

GEORGIA TECH
“I thought they came back and the energy level was good and we got a lot done,” Johnson said. “We were able to play a little bit live for five or 10 minutes, which we hadn’t done in a while, especially offensively, so that was a good thing.”
Tech will practice Tuesday and Wednesday before releasing the team for its holiday break. The team will reconvene on the 26th and practice on-campus on the morning of the 27th before flying to Jacksonville, Fla., the same day.
UGA
In order to practice at an off campus site, a waiver must be secured from the SEC office and Commissioner. We got that waiver last night. However, the stipulation along with the waiver is that the institution cannot publicize the fact that the practice is off campus before or during the practice. Only after the team returns to the campus following practice can the institution acknowledge the fact that the team was at an off campus facility.

Football was practically invented at Georgia Tech & has been played at the current site since 1905.
quote:
Despite these new rules, football remained a violent sport. Dangerous mass-formations, which involved interlocking interference, like the flying wedge resulted in serious injuries and deaths. A 1905 peak of 19 fatalities nationwide resulted in a threat by President Theodore Roosevelt to abolish the game unless major changes were made. In response, sixty-two colleges and universities met in New York City to discuss rule changes on December 28, 1905, and these proceedings resulted in the formation of the Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the United States, later named the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Should name your indoor practice facility after Kevin.
Because it looks like a Butler Building.

Were they talking about servers?
Or servers?
Bottom line: UGA will copycat somebody's idea

The Senior Design team designed a queuing strategy for the entry gates and concession stands, which involved converting multiple queues to a single queue that distributes to multiple servers. Fundamentally, a single queue (like at amusement parks) is faster than multiple queues (like at a grocery store). The team worked with the GTAA to implement a pilot of these queues during the October 29 Tech-Duke game at Gate 8 and one of the concession stands in the east concourse of the stadium. The team observed that there was a dramatic reduction in wait time in the queues, and so the GTAA plans to continue this queuing strategy and expand it to the rest of the stadium.

Senior Design Team GTAA Gameday Flow was tasked by the Georgia Tech Athletic Association (GTAA) to redesign game day operations to improve the fan experience at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The team created a new staffing plan at all entry gates, which will reduce average fan waiting time by 78 percent. The team delivered a concept design for a new concession stand in the southeast corridor that integrates the Tapingo mobile ordering platform. The new stand will pay for itself while simultaneously reducing the congestion in the lower east corridor by 64 percent. The team developed a business case for using Tapingo at all stadium concession stands. They additionally proposed a police offer placement plan on Northside Drive that can reduce average traffic commute time on this road by 73 percent. The recommendations will save fans 13,000 hours of wait time over a season.

Paul Johnson uses Wake Forest scandal to zing Kirby Smart

When Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson took questions Tuesday about the Wake Forest game-plan leaking scandal, he used the opening to tweak his counterpart in Athens.
quote:
Johnson first shared his belief that his team at Navy had once been compromised at a bowl game by high-school coaches attending a pre-bowl practice. Hence, the necessity for safeguards. “In fact, our last game, didn’t the guy from Georgia say they knew that the throwback was coming?” Johnson asked. “That’s pretty good, since we hadn’t run it all year.”
quote:
“That’s one of their toughest plays,” Smart said. “We repped that play all week.”
quote:
Georgia did indeed defend the gadget element of the play well. Two Bulldogs defenders followed Thomas as he looped out of the backfield, inadvertently helping create the gap that Searcy penetrated after pulling the ball down.
