Daniels touched the ball every offensive play. There is no way to make a comparison.
Both willed us to wins at times.
Mathieu was the most exciting and impactful defensive player ever at LSU.
Without Daniel who knows how bad 2022 and 23 would have been.
No it shouldn’t have. Look at the video. He was just expressing how much he wanted to finish the season with these players. It was just a moment of passion about the kids.
You’re just stirring shite!
It's toss up. If you look at the rosters each coach left behind about a dozen contributors but I would say O's were better just on Boutte, Nabers, BTJ, Emery, Ojulari, Ward, Sai'vion Jones and McGlothern (had Kelly not run him off)
We don't really know what we will have left until the portal losses are assessed.

Culture wise, it's certainly not better or worse.

There was still some glow and wow left from the 19 championship. I'm not sure there is any glow from Kelly other than the Heisman and the brand took a beating this year with the messy end to Kelly's tenure.

Maybe get us to 7-5 because of three cupcake OOC wins and a W over a rebuilding Clemson but MVB ain't no MVP. There's a possibility that he transfers if Kiffin is successful in landing his QB targets in portal.

The QB room is empty thanks to Kelly, Austin Thomas and the rest of clowns in the GM?player personnel department. We recruited a 16 year old developmental project in 2024 and no high school QBs in 2025 or this year. Who does that?

Kelly wasn't just lazy. He was negligent and incompetent.
He was fairly consistent but I was never confident when he was sent in, especially when it was anything beyond 40 yards.

As the OP said, he scored a lot because our red zone offense too often failed to get the TD. How many times when we got inside the 10 did the play calls make you scream? How many times did we fail to punch it in from 2 yards or closer because of a shitty play call or poor run design and blocking?

can't believe the team didn't wear them this year

This is obviously at the top of list of things to be concerned about. Oh the horror. :rotflmao:

Seriously, I didn’t notice or care. I personally hate the all white uniforms but they can wear tutus as long as we win. FWIW I’ve always liked the purple jerseys with gold pants.

You’re making my point.

Not really. Connor Weigman is not Diego Pavia, Heisman finalist.
Of those you listed only a few of them were any more than part time contributors in the overall scheme of things. Butler and Gilbert are hardly household names.
Look, the defense didn't play well. Haulcey was veteran who helped make the secondary more cohesive. His absence was huge. Delane had an AA season and was sorely missed. The entire linebacking corp was missing.

To be honest, I thought Baker got a lot out of the defense this year considering the talent and the injuries. It pretty hard to cook a gourmet meal without having the proper quality ingredients.

The past is the past. On to the future. It will have some bumps in the road but at least there is hope now.

BTW, your user name might be more accurate if you replaced Shanks with Sucks.

Hodson’s last one was FAR worse.

True but it has rivals.

The '98 season was super weird with Tepper's drop linebacker D and 1999 was even worse.
2008 Malveto defense a waste with Lee's pick 6s. We won the Troy game on a few miracles.
2020 with COVID and the opening blowout loss to Moo U was a warning of the weirdness to come. The fact that O hired Pelini without interviewing to run "dat 4-3 defense" was comical.
It's never sad when you win. Let them celebrate. They'll never have much more to cheer about other than occasional upset. Even though the Big XII is weak, it's doubtful that Cougar High will ever win a conference title.

Was a mistake from the beginning

No one knew that at the time. Even if it was just Notre Dame he always won and he had rescued Notre Dame from much suckage. He was articulate and was considered a “big” get. It really pissed off the media and establishment because he jilted the Domers. (See a pattern here?)

No one could have predicted he would be lazy; make horrible coaching hires; and, in general, mail it in. He had no overriding offensive or defensive philosophy or scheme. He was in short, a fraud.

His hire was not Woodward’s decision alone. You can bet the big money guys and BOS were onboard with the deal.

Following O, he just exacerbated a bad situation and left us in the same shape as he inherited. In the end he damaged the LSU “brand”.

Should have been a pick on the TD

Refs suck but this defense is shorthanded.

I'm not sure who all is playing but based on talent alone LSU should win.

Talent? With opt outs, where’s the talent?

LSU should kill Houston!!! Period

We haven’t “killed” anyone this year other than SLU.

And on this day zero fricks were given!
I never pull for SEC teams. F’em all.

I can’t even rate the teams I hate the most because I’m an equal opportunity hater.

Where did Kelly go wrong as coach?

FIFY

Talent evaluation
Coaching hires
Player Development
Roster management
Leadership
Laziness

As for the offensive line, in addition to bad coaching and player development, the scheme sucked.

It's really hard to see Kelly as anything other than a failure even though he leaves with a 34-14 record (0.708).
The 10 win seasons in 22 and 23 were misleading because of the talent of Daniels with Nabers and Thomas combined with Denbrock's offense. The 9 win season, outside of the Ole Miss win, was fools gold.

Why would have anyone expect it wouldn't be?

Kelly was awful at roster management, talent evaluation, and player development. Add in portal losses and the "one and done" transfers and Kiffin is left with a total rebuild.

The nucleus of next year's team will have to be built from the transfer portal.

Kelly was more than a failure. He was a fraud and lazy bum.
Michigan Man morals:
Harbaugh and Stallion sign stealing
Moore philanderer and domestic abuse.

Didn't Michigan "steal" an active coach in Rich Rod?

Absolutely.

The Fighting Tigers are playing and I want us to win. Hopefully see a good effort by some guys starting for the first time.

I never thought LSU would be in this position when Kelly was hired but, in essence, the program is in about the same shape as when he watched from the press box vs K State. Our QB was a WR then and now it may be a RB. With opt outs and players focused on where they will land after entering the portal it would seem like a similar situation. So I'm not expecting much except to be competitive.

It still matters.
