i saw 14 of the 20 students were international. so like everything else in this country, this was just welfare for foreigners. good riddance.

This has become the biggest problem for NCAA tennis...

Tennis at the D1 competitive level is about 80% foreign born players.

The school that’s top 3 in National Championships in the SEC is not SEC quality?

That makes sense. Lmao what a dumbass take.

Things have to start crumbling soon. You are now paying $3m for an average player in men's basketball.

I don't know about that but some SEC schools won't be able to compete.

I had actually heard about this a few days ago. Couple good buds were alumni players.

Probably not. Football has what? 85? 100 scholarships?

Football needs to be completely broken away from both divisions and conferences.

This is eventually going to be reality for everything not named football and basketball. Maybe baseball at SEC schools.

The reality is the price tag is only going up to win a national title and the money is going to come from somewhere.

I don’t see an end to this train with the networks calling the shots. It sucks.

Why does it suck? If something can’t support itself then why should it be subsidized by someone else? No one is stopping any person from playing any sport they want. But no one is owed a scholarship or special status if the support isn’t there. Why don’t SEC schools have D1 hockey? Or D1 darts? Or D1 cornhole?

The reality is the student body has all kinds of interests and hobbies and colleges made way to many hobbies scholarship supported teams. The pendulum needed to swing back. Golf, tennis, gymnastics, track, softball, and probably baseball don’t need to be scholarship school supported sports.

Yeah. But aren’t they like a 27 time national champion now.

And you could argue they were overpaid then.

Unfortunately football pays the bills.

Arkansas doesn't have a choice but to get better in football.

They tried for the longest time avoiding football.

They can no longer do so.

AS far as I care, LSU can drop Men and Women's Tennis plus M/W Swim and Dive, plus M/W golf as of June 1, 2026.

It’s not a matter of if people watch. Why are hobbies scholarship supported. The day may come where someone says the same about football and I wouldn’t disagree. We are a free society where students can play any game they want but it doesn’t mean it needs to be supported by money. Right now in our American society people like to watch and pay for tickets for football and basketball. That may change one day and bowling or chess takes over. But that isn’t today so let these hobbies be funded by those who want to play it.

How poor is Arkansas? Should we swap them with Texas Tech? On same day Arky cuts programs Tech starts throwing money around to the smaller sports like a damn strip club

So when does this happen at the high school level ?
How many high school sports programs are self supporting ? Is high school football self supporting
or does it depend on tax payer subsidies?
