Nobody said NIL. The spend amount is just on the actual program.

We could run both programs for a century just from the pocket change that spills from our bloated and under performing football team in one year.
The issue isn't that we can't field competitive teams in both sports. It is that the AD doesn't want to bump the budget up a fraction to do so. We've spent a lot of money on facility upgrades so even though we bring in a ton of money, we don't have a ton left.
I think it's a lousy idea, with just a bit of investment we could be really good at both sports. But we've been overly generous with a lot of coaching contracts and are paying those off.

I mean does anyone give a shite? There is no inherent right to get scholarships to play a sport that generates zero revenue.

That’s fricking terrible. They have one of the nicest facilities in the country
One of my best college wins came there. Down a set 5-0 and came back to clinch winning 6-3 in the third.
Tennis is also one of the cheapest if not the cheapest sports to run

Yup. NIL is going to eventually relegate the SEC to sun belt level. Our days as the premier sports conference are over and not coming back

This also throughly proves Arky ain’t the SEC
Only two schools without men’s tennis programs
Arky and mizzou….

Intramural tennis at Arkansas is going to have the nicest intramural facilities of all time
(Yes, I'm jaded)

The stupid fricks cut their 3rd and 4th most “successful” sport according to profit/loss

i saw 14 of the 20 students were international. so like everything else in this country, this was just welfare for foreigners. good riddance.

When making layoffs or cuts, the entire point is to cut something that actually holds weight. You cut the two least costly programs. Financially it makes no sense . It’s like playing off the janitor and secretary

Sad. Absolutely hate to hear this. NIL is a joke.

If they cut women's basketball, then that number of scholarships needs to be cut from men's sports, and we both know Arky ain't cutting MBB (it makes money and they have a good history in the sport).
They have too much success in T&F/XC to cut those sports.
If Arky cut softball, then baseball would have to go (which isn't happening).
Soccer is generally used to make up for the scholarships given for football, so it is protected.
I don't know shite about frick in regards to Arkansas swimming and diving, so I'm not even going to speculate on why it didn't get the ax.
If tennis goes, then you don't have the uneven scholarships with men/women and you can shutter the whole facility and auxiliary stuff associated with it. A shitty choice had to be made over ~$2.3M.
As an LSU fan, you might remember when LSU had a bad arse wrestling program before Title IX. Funny that caused all SEC schools (at the time) to drop wrestling and now the NCAA has a Women's Wrestling Championship.

It’s not financial. Saving 3 million total when every other program loses more money shows that
Arky simply didn’t care or invest at all about tennis and was tired of getting their asses kicked in tennis so folded
