Tampa is in the footprint. It is stupid to say it isn’t. It’s like saying Texas isn’t Southern.

Is LSU trying to weasel out of playing their biggest rival in football, AGAIN?
They don’t call y'all the yellow bellied kitties for nothing.

Dude, just stop. There is never anyone with a brain that doesn’t include Virginia, Kentucky, Texas and Florida as Southern States.

Cop out. Y’all could have natural surfaces on your football and baseball fields if you weren’t lazy. You can easily water that with recycled water like the golf courses all over Austin do.
If only there were an Ag school 90 miles east that could teach you how to do these simple things…

Our perms should be Arky, LSU and tu.
Wish we played State/OM, Bama/Auburn, and Vandy/Tenn on opposite years of each other.
I still wish we’d have gone to 4 team pods, but with the conference championships eventually going away it probably doesn’t matter.

Y'all should have gone to the PAC 10. tu doesn’t belong here.

Oh…bless your heart.
God used shady characters all throughout the Bible to do his Will.
Not saying Paxton is Godly, but Talerico sure ain’t.

Paxton is a shite bag. No one is saying he isn’t. But Cornyn didn’t support the Save Act, and didn’t do what needed to be done to further the conservative agenda in the Senate. Cornyn was completely fricking worthless.
Now, I don’t give a crap who Paxton is as a person, he is a million times better than that heretic Talerico. I am a Christian and a sinner, but I recognize and proclaim God’s truths. Talerico lies about what the Bible says, and that is unforgivable. God will deal with him.
I’ll gladly vote Paxton all day long over that blasphemous freak.

Look, dumbass, quit being an obtuse redneck. No one said anything about golden mythical invitations. We’re just talking about historical hypotheticals.
It’s your pride and smugness that can’t get past who, and who might not have joined the SEC at certain intervals in history.
Good lord. It’s like you need a new trailer or something…

I think Lofitn mentioned it also in his book, but I don’t have a copy of it on me. UH was the school Ross Margraves came up with when the SEC wanted a second school instead of us being the sole 13th in 1995. It was close to happening but it didn’t. If anything, we were the ones that left the Coogs without a landing spot.
Ironically, after UH joined the SWC in the 1970s, they did very well in all sports and carried their weight.
There were many articles that mentioned how UH was penciled in. You just have the look for them. But it was all contingent of us coming and if the league wanted a 14th school. For the record, UH would have been a terrible choice for the SEC in my opinion, but the landscape was different in the 90s. Hindsight is always 20/20.

It’s a fact. Don’t let your pride and arrogance stand in the way of history.
But either way it didn’t ultimately happen.

It didn’t happen so it doesn’t matter, now does it?
Whether the SEC would have really gone through with UH or not, is immaterial. If they needed a 14th member, they probably would have. Ultimately the political landscape in Texas at that time squashed any of us from joining until we did.
When we joined, it was our third opportunity to do so. And that’s a fact.

Yup. As were Tulane and GT.
The story is interesting how we never had any intention of going to the XII, and had just about punched our ticket to the SEC in 1995 when the SWC imploded. UH, was penciled in to be our partner in the SEC. That is, until Lt. Gov Bob Bullock intervened and had the Texas Higher Ed Board approve Reed Arena and the Student Rec Center. Funny how we never had any intention of being in the XII, but political strong arming forced us in. Sucks for UH. All of that has come out now…

Not really. Arkansas always shouldve been. Aggies are Texans at heart and not southern
Actually, yes. Texas culture is a subset of Southern Culture that was uniquely shaped by the pioneers and settlers that came to Texas from Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky to settle it. To say otherwise is galactically stupid.
Our politics, our culture, our mannerisms, our values, and our entire belief structure as Texans is uniquely Southen to its core.
Texas A&M had deep early ties to the Confederacy, and has a statue of a man in the center of our campus that served as a General in the Confederacy, later as Governor of Texas, and after that as President of the A&M College of Texas. Our Corps of Cadets is no different than The Citadel, VMI, or North Georgia. And all three being designated as Senior Military Colleges, or SMCs. That is very much a Southern thing.
So every time I hear someone say that Texas isn’t “southern” I laugh my arse off because that poster just revealed their intelligence, or lack thereof.
I offer no apologies that my state, along with Florida, are leading the movement of Southern Conservatism. Perhaps Tennessee just isn’t big enough. I also offer no apologies that Texas is ~ 850 miles wide and tall. Sure, El Paso is decidedly “western” in geography, but Beaumont is part of Acadiana. Texarkana is no different than any other southern town, as are all the areas east of I35.
But bless your heart, if saying Texas isn’t Southern makes you feel good. We belong here, we should have always been here, and we are here to stay.
