Yeah. That was the point of my post. Did you miss where I opened and closed discussing Title IX and how there must be an equal number of scholarships for men and women?

I do not remember when we had a predominantly American team. So if these go away, it won't bother me.

Swimming and Diving would be the only other one you could really cut, zero fans.

Softball is top 10 yearly, new stadium and sells out. Soccer is top 10 yearly and sells out. Track and field sell out every event.

Too bad we can't cut WBB that's what everyone would vote for.

Men’s tennis is one of MissState’s best sports. Y’all are top 5 this year and a serious national title contender

They'll be the first school out of the conference when the conferences are trimmed.

...they should have dumped football for 4 or 5 years and completely reset it.

Arkansas Men offer -
Football, Baseball, Basketball, XC, Golf, T&F

Women -
Basketball, XC, Golf, Gymnastics, Soccer, Softball, Swim & Dive, T&F, Volleyball

I think Ark can cut a Women's sport and still be fine with Title IX unless I am missing something.

When I was a student at Georgia, most of the non-rev sports were free to attend with a student ID. I remember WBB having free entry one game (vs. an SEC opponent) to everyone with a donation of 2 cans to a food bank. Those days are going to be long gone, if they aren't already.

Baseball at Arkansas, the Landmasses, and LSU are going to be put in a position where they cannot operate in the red, because they are not just funding that sport, but the women's sport that provides those Title IX mandated scholarships. Expect the baseball outfield to look like that scene from Major League or "hey I donated to have my name over the new bullpen" "sorry bro, best we can do is name a gate for ya at the softball field".

One thing we don't know is have other sports received pledges from sponsors or individual donors to make up the difference.

Also, NIL might cut both ways in the non-rev sports:
Football 5* - yeah here is $450K to post on TikTok how much you like Dino nuggies and you have to do that 4 times a semester.
Swim star - here's $1000 and you need to be giving my grandkids swim lessons 3 times a week during the off-season or that pledge I made to the swim program might just go away.

Smart move. This will save hundreds -- maybe thousands -- of dollars that Arkansas can otherwise divert to football NIL.

Equipment and travel costs along with maintenance of your facilities and paying coaches. No sport is cheap at the SEC level. I thought this would hit the Big 10 first with UCLA having to travel to Rutgers for minor sports.

I would have thought that too because of the travel cost, but it seems like every Big 10 school either has super rich alumni (like Michigan) or a lot of alumni (like Indiana).

Even Purdue has more alumni than all SEC schools except Texas.

I hate this shite.

All of it.
Students who play non-revenue sports are having their scholarships taken away so future multimillionaires who will likely never set foot in a physical classroom at any of the three, four, or five colleges they attend can be millionaires three years earlier. A free college education, food, clothing, health care, job training, rent, and stipend were just "exploitation" to them.

This sucks.
