Why wouldn’t they renew it under a new contract?

That's all dumb.
Sounds like you are doing the Sabre Pyramid Tablet pitch from the Office.

Somewhere, anywhere, with less commercials.

I miss the 3 Dave's on those lovely 11:30am kickoffs.

Wouldn't mind staying with CBS, as long as Gary Danielson is fired

Keep in mind the following
- Streaming services have been gearing up to trying and get into the big money of professional/college sports. They got a foothold in baseball and Amazon Prime/Twitter have moved in a bit with the NFL. There is definitely going to be a push from Amazon, Facebook, Apple, etc in the next few years for live rights to games and leagues.
- The SEC is the only league with a non-league run station that is devoted purely to them outside of Notre Dame. FOX does the B12/P12/B1G. ESPN/ABC does everybody. CBS only does the SEC, and the 330 CBS timeslot is known as the "SEC Game of the Week" every week. No other league really has that.
So with all that said, what do you want the SEC to do when the CBS deal runs out?
Keep CBS but get in contract a clear defined TV Timeout policy. When a player is down on the field, you can take a TV Timeout then and once the player is checked out my medical staff and gotten back to the bench for evaluation, the TV TO can end. What often happens is a player is down and play stops and CBS stays with the game. The player is helped off the field by Medical staff and then bingo a TV TO.

Anywhere that doesn't put a big game in a 2:30 slot all the time. To make matters worse they burned their only primetime slot on UGA/Norte Dame game early on in the year that really was not a good watch. Great match ups with ranked teams that have playoff implications need to be primetime games.

PBS
But we will have to fight for that prime time spot with This Old House and The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross

CBS have been some real pricks when it comes to this current contract. They've refused to discuss a renegotiated deal
even when the SEC expanded....which was the main reason for the expansion. ESPN has been a far better partner and paid FAR
more money for their TV deal.CBS should be paying the SEC 5X more than it gets now

Hopefully not ESPN. You’ll have the Whaman like Beth Mowins calling our 11am games. Will promote her to call the 2:30 games of the week a couple of yrs after that.

Fox has the wrong PBP guy calling their top game. They need to put Joe Davis in that spot. He is really, really good at his job. Gus Johnson belongs on college basketball.

Anyone that doesn’t lock down a timeslot for 4 hours with countless commercial breaks and a kickoff some time within 5 minutes of the broadcast beginning. ESPN games kickoff quickly. ABC prime time games finish faster. Games should be played at noon central, 2, 4, and 7. We shouldn’t be stuck with 11 AM kicks that finish around 2:15 and then wait until a 6:30 slot for another game.

Al Jazeera with Omar and Hassan.

I do not care where we go. BUT, I want our new arrangement to feature a prime time game of the week, every week.

I wouldn't mind Disney/CBS splitting the games with CBS having a few more doubleheaders, at the cost of Disney getting the first pick that could potentially be the ABC primetime broadcast.
Give CBS 3 or 4 doubleheaders, and always having the exclusive 2:30 game, and for 3 or 4 weeks, Disney gets the 1st pick of games to be either the primetime ABC or ESPN game, with the 2nd game going to CBS those weeks. Obviously this is a very rough plan but I think this would keep the SEC on CBS as a highly valued property, with having either the best or 2nd best game every week, while getting more premier games with the 7PM kickoff.

Sankey better be working on his negotiating points now.

Sunday Night Football is the best football broadcast out there.
I agree. Sunday Night Football today is what MNF was about 25 to 30 years ago. When Al Michaels retires, it will be a sad day.

I’m going to say that ESPN will win this and ABC will have the big game each Saturday afternoon. Or let’s just say Disney will win the bid.
