Maybe promoting the top assistant to the AD that everyone hated wasn’t a great idea.

I agree except that is probably not why they keeping him.
It blows my mind that coaches contracts don’t have minimum requirements to get your buyout other than don’t be a POS. When your career is measured in W/L and you can lose every game and still get paid.

Also the buyout is over 3 years no one needs to come up with 11 million genius!

It's not LSU's money. If someone was willing to pay that, they would have by now. buyouts are not paid with public money, even if its self generated.

You still have to have someone agree to pay $11m. Doesn’t matter how long. They have to agree to that. Nobody wants to. Get tf over it

Yikes, wouldn’t want you running any of my businesses.

It's not a business. If it were, he wouldn't have gotten a 7 year deal without benchmarks to measure performance. If it were a business, he'd be fired for cause for not winning enough. But again, that analogy is stupid.

Also i noticed instead of focusing on the argument, you attacked me. Classic failed argument. Since I'm an adult, I'll keep it about the argument.

All good as long as you’re not in the red is a very interesting position….

Is it a good position for a business to ask people outside of the business to finance firing their CEO because they signed him to a bad deal but they won't get paid back if the business starts to flourish?

I truly don’t understand how you can approach this mess with a notion of Sunk cost

If a f500 ceo was running a company into the ground, would the board just sit idly by bc it costs a pile to can him?

This is the dumbest analogy yet...

LSU Men's basketball made a profit of $2.5M for the athletic department. There is no financial reason for LSU to fire McMahon. They'd be better off letting his contract expire.

Also of note, LSU doesn't pay buyouts. Boosters pay buyouts. You need someone with money to say they'll pay the $11M to get rid of him. So far, no takers. I don't see you offering your money.

Ole Miss will sue them in county court to force them.

LOL I have a feeling if Trinidad doesn't get eligibility, their ability to care about him will diminish.

Nor are they required to.

That's their argument. Tho, I didn't see them suing any other public university in the state.

NCAA has sucked for years and allowed all of this to happen rather than being proactive years ago.

True but they get sued by the likes of Tn and Ole Miss for trying to enforce their rules. They only exist to govern member institutions but those institutions keep suing them.

So the school either generates that extra money or they have to adjust their athletic budgets to pay the revenue sharing. I could see some smaller schools getting out of athletics altogether. Most schools are in the red on athletic budgets to begin with.

Right. That's why LSU put a business logo on the field and on the jersey.

That 20.5 is just the max tho. You aren't required to spend that.
Boils down to the fact that legally, that information should be public according to the law. I would guess LSU would argue that its not taxpayer money, its generated by the sport so it shouldn't be.

Is that sort of like salary caps in pro sports? What is the number for NIL? Is is $20M for all sports? I can't wait for the minor sports to just raise holy Hell over all of this. Or that under paid left tackle let's a bruiser by to cold cock the overpaid quarterback.

The $20.5m is for all sports total. Divvied up however the schools want. Football generates the most revenue so they should get the most at most universities. That just Rev share tho. NIL is different. NIL doesn't have a cap except for anything over $600 in value has to be reported and cleared.

LSU athletics is being sued over NIL deals

wrong.

LSU is being sued by reporters who want access to how much specific players are getting paid and LSU doesn't want to give them that.

We? How much did you put in? I'd argue that since he hasn't been fired, nobody is paying him to make MBB great.

If he loses eligibility suit after the draft is over, he could then sign with any NFL team that he chooses.

Because no one with money cares.

ETA: No one with money cares enough about the losses at this point, I should say.
