Sumrall about to get reprimanded

If we remember correctly, Sankey was misled as well.
Also, if we remember correctly, the majority of this board used to bitch for a 9 game schedule. Bama fans would pound their chest because Saban also wanted a 9 game schedule. Never change, rant, never change.

I really feel for these coaches. Sankey has put them in a real tough spot. I just hope the $10+ million / year can make up for feeling mislead.

IT'll be 24 teams before you know it, not a big deal

Shouldn't matter. It was a conditional agreement.

9 game conference schedule and now UGA, UF, South Carolina, and Kentucky have to play a conference game the week before we play Tech, FSU, Clemson, and Louisville. Thanks Greg!

Sankey answers to the 16 School Presidents. He has lawyers and very smart ESPN executives advising him
His contract with ESPN I believe expires in 2031. ESPN also owns the CFP rights for another 3-5 years.
Big 10 pushing for 24 so more games can be televised on Fox, CBS and NBC.
To call Sankey a POS IS disingenuous. Sankey will make no decision without the full backing of the schools and ESPN.

Good lord when did the SEC change its slogan from “it just means more” to the crying emoji.

This is why I feel like this has all been by design. Not Sankey's, the coaches/athletic directors and other conference commissioners. Sooner or later, Sankey is going to be pushed into playoff expansion so that coaches will be able to protect their asses after going 9-3 and 8-4 due to the increased difficulty in schedules.

The coaches are just going to put pressure on Sankey to go with a 24 team playoff.
"Of course, expansion could still be (and very likely is) coming. Sumrall told reporters on Tuesday that he’d like to see expansion to 24 teams, and Mike Elko candidly pointed out that if it were up to him, he’d like to see it at 40 teams, highlighting the fact that coaches are naturally going to vote for a higher number of teams to help job security."

These decisions are all being made by network executives. Sankey is a puppet just like the coaches are.
The BIG is working on behalf of Fox and the SEC for ESPN.
