This is 100% accurate.

The erosion of the SEC's dominance started a long time ago in that corner office and is just now being seen. Kramer was a visionary. Slive was a manager. And, Sankey's a puppet.

If you like the current system good for you. Yes I don't like the fact that people can transfer as many times as they want. Is every NFL player a free agent twice a year? Of course not...that would be and is idiotic.

I’m just looking objectively and UGA and Texas are the 2 best SEC teams heading into the 2026 season. 2025 is over and has no bearing on 2026.

Why? 8 more guaranteed losses for SEC teams. Less bowl eligible teams. Less interesting OOC matchups.
Less money.
Stupid decision. Have you been paying attention? We've been struggling to even have winning seasons. This makes it even more difficult.

What a stupid question. Our team sucked so bad, a 6 game schedule would have prevented a winning season.

I like playing Florida and Tennessee again, and doing so doesn't impact good OOC games.

Well, get used to 5-7 seasons. We pretty much are anyway.

Prattville, you are an honest poster which I appreciate. As a fan of team who essentially has 2-3 built in losses every season your point is totally valid.

That extra conference game will give a lot of losses. But other conferences have been doing it for a long time now and no one ever gave us credit they just mocked our teams who were 8-4 or 7-5 instead of 9-3 and 8-4. And it absolutely affects rankings because the polls are stupid and antiquated, My team loses in week 11 to VT and we get no credit for playing that game while UGA plays Charlotte and gets rewarded.

The SEC has been living a lie protected by fewer conference games and polls. We’ll see it agin this year, The polls will have half the SEC ranked and the fans will believe their team is better than they are. Then when they lose the fans look for a scapegoat. The simple reason the SEC has lost games in the post season is they weren’t as good as the teams they played - and it’s because every school now has freedom to sign good players so the talent is spread around. Half of my teams starters this coming season were second stringers at the big boy schools so it’s no shock that we are winning more games than usual.

The only problem Auburn has had is they spent money on players that didn’t return the value and the QB play was no up to par. I’m sure the new staff is working on both issues so hopefully 8 wins is possible,

But based on what? A hope they can be better than a 4-8 team this year? A hope they won’t get blown out by Ohio state this year?

What basis exists for that statement ? You don’t say “has the potential to be one of the best teams”

Own it

Down 14-0 with just over 4 minutes left?

I mean the game wasn’t really close at that point with Utrans throwing bombs and hoping for miracles

It was a 7 point win, Texas had the ball with a chance to tie in Ohio State territory with a minute and a half remaining and turned it over on downs.

I mean, let's at least be realistic here.

Sarge,
I wasn’t trying to piss in your cornflakes. In my opinion after watching all the games last year and with the players on this years rosters I simply think UGA and Texas will be the class of the SEC. I’m a big Elko guy after seeing what he did at Duke up close and your team has every chance in the world to prove me wrong and I definitely am rooting for A&M over Texas but from what I saw Texas is going to be really good.

Finally an Auburn fan, in contrast to Borotiger, who grasps the concept of, "The Law of Diminishing Returns."

If you listened to what Sankey said when he put this on the table...

"ESPN wanted to increase their inventory."

Sankey simply has no concept of how much SEC competition impacts a team over the course of a season.

Auburn and Tennessee will be the hardest hit... Just watch.
