Funny how the defense never disputes that Allen was “Bridge guy”. They just want to get him off a technicality.

I don’t think there’s any doubt he killed Black Dahlia. And I’m just about certain he’s Zodiac but only if the article is accurate and the investigator is telling the truth.

Because that would mean he had AI try every name from the 1950 census and his was the only one that worked for the cypher. And then that person just so happened to be the best suspect for Black Dahlia as well. And then that person was also a white male, in the proper age range and despite having moved around the country extensively was also in the area at the time for each of the Zodiac murders.

The rest of the circumstantial tidbits are interesting but unconvincing on their own so unless they find something showing he couldn’t have been Zodiac then that alone is about as close to a sure thing as you can hope for in this case.

The odds would be just about off the charts at that point.

I know we’ve heard it before but this one seems incredibly legit. Not only that but evidence supports the Zodiac and Black Dahlia killers as being the same person - Marvin Margolis AKA Marvin Merrill. He was a WW2 vet who lived with Elizabeth Short prior to her being murdered. He was investigated originally until he fled from police and changed his name. I don’t think he was linked previously to Zodiac though.

And yes, to be connected to both he’d likely have to be dead today and he is. Died in 1993 as he would’ve been 100 this year. A man named Alex Baber lead the investigation that connected an amazing amount of dots and a top cryptologist has even confirmed Baber cracked all the remaining cyphers which did reveal the name just as Zodiac promised.

The suspect’s family is cooperating and have handed over items of interest that are being tested. The police departments that have been involved for all these years are currently going over all of the evidence but some of those closest to it have claimed it’s over. This is the one.

Daily Mail seems to be out front on this one and their article is a must read for those interested. These two cases are arguably among the most famous of all time.

The site of the former Zodiac Motel where it’s believed Short was killed and mutilated. The name didn’t come from a watch. Arthur Leigh Allen was innocent.

Still have that Death Star in my parent’s attic. The gun piece has been long gone tho. Have a millennium falcon too.

The “lights” just celebrated their 30th anniversary this past July 4th. Sounds like the issues really began in 2018 when a quarter of them were out. Not sure if they were fully repaired/replaced at that point but there are wiring issues as well and most are currently out.

WBRZ - July 3, 2018

quote:

BATON ROUGE – The iconic shimmer of lights from the New Bridge likely won’t be as shiny when the city celebrates Independence Day – also the 23rd anniversary of the decorative lights casting a brilliant spell over the Mississippi River.

The city, tasked with keeping the lights on after a Baton Rouge civic group raised the money to install them in the early-90s, needs double the budget for light maintenance to get the system working as it should. The city pays $30,000 a year to maintain the lights attached to the superstructure of the I-10 bridge over the river.

But, due to “unforeseen outages,” another $30,000 is needed to get the lights working again.

Forum 35 raised between $275,000 and $350,000 to have 114 lights installed on the Horace Wilkinson Bridge. About a quarter of the lights are out, city officials told WBRZ Tuesday. The lights were turned on July 4, 1995, following WBRZ’s annual fireworks show on the river.

Since, the organization of young professionals has handed the maintenance of the lights over to the city-parish.

A city spokesperson said its contractor found issues with the lights recently.

“We have more problems with the existing lights which will be fixed or replaced,” the city said.

The additional $30,000 – which will expand the contract to a total of $60,000 – should help.

The Metro Council will be asked to approve the money shuffle at the July 25th meeting.

But, that’s only a band-aid. The entire system needs to be retooled.

Until the broken parts are fixed, numerous bulbs won’t shine – leaving dark holes in the light display on the bridge.

People like Massie will never be satisfied.

This was always going to be a political loser for somebody’s administration. There will be distrust and accusations no matter how it’s handled. Trump knew all this. Vance is probably glad it’s all coming out now but you just watch for it to become a political issue for the next election. The Dims will get to the bottom of it this time. As long as redactions exist and mysteries remain. And both of those are unavoidable.

I love the desperation of LSU fans to get him hired as if they're the one that are writing Kelly's checks

I think the only way he takes another job is if a decent program or NFL team makes it very public how much they want him. As awkward (albeit improbable) as that would make things for him I still think he finds a way to stay out of it. And once it’s out there that you’re just coasting by for a fat paycheck that ain’t going away. And yeah it sucks to feel like you got played like that.

They’re also the Hoos. Cuz wahoo.

I thought $10M seemed low. Most estimate $40M for SS.

Specifically Congress could impose the same tariff or tariff threat that got the ball rolling on this deal. Generally they could grant the president any amount of tariff authority they saw fit outside of the existing responses to national security/emergency and unfair trade practices.

My guess is something about the $2000 stimulus checks to put pressure on Congress to pass it.

I don’t see anything wrong with this statement

He’d have been better off not saying shite. Hell even James Woods managed a nice message.

Therefore, if the offended team attempts to call a timeout “before the penalty” (i.e., before officials have signaled, announced, or enforced it), the timeout request is not acknowledged or charged until the foul is handled.

And before you say they would still have to grant the timeout even after the penalty is resolved then explain this.

The timing option allows them to either run the clock or start it on the snap. If you are forcing that team to use the timeout then you take away one of their options as the offended team. If they want the clock to immediately start running (which they didn’t in this case) then the timeout would immediately kill it removing that as an option.

This is what Grok said when I asked.

According to NFHS Football Rules, specifically under Rule 10-1 (Procedure After a Foul), decisions involving penalties must be made before any charged timeout is granted to either team. This applies to both live-ball and dead-ball fouls.

For a dead-ball personal foul (such as unsportsmanlike conduct), the covering official signals the foul immediately after it occurs between downs. The referee then notifies both teams and presents options to the offended team’s designated representative (typically the head coach or captain) for accepting or declining the penalty, including its effects on down, distance, and (if applicable under Rule 3-4-7) clock starting options with less than two minutes remaining in the half.

Only after the penalty decision is resolved can a charged timeout be granted. Therefore, if the offended team attempts to call a timeout “before the penalty” (i.e., before officials have signaled, announced, or enforced it), the timeout request is not acknowledged or charged until the foul is handled. The team does not lose the Rule 3-4-7 timing option, as it is part of the penalty acceptance choice presented during this process.

If the offended team accepts the penalty under two minutes, they retain the option to start the clock on the snap. If they decline, the clock starts on the ready-for-play signal as usual, and no special timing option applies.
The timeout was returned because the penalty occurred with under 2 minutes left in the game and the offended team then has the option to start the clock on the snap which they would have chosen instead. That option overrides any issues as to when the timeout was called. You can hear his explanation just before the one minute mark in the video.
