My question regarding this stat would be..."what's the difference in the competition played by each team?" I really don't know the answer to that question, but I have to believe LSU's schedule has been a good bit more difficult than Alabama's has thus far.

Doesn't look like alot of garbage time to me. Myth debunked.

Not real good at logic, are you?

Neither team has had an opponent score a meaningful point against them in the 4th quarter. All 4th quarter points allowed by both teams are garbage time points.

Take out the 4th quarter points allowed for both teams...

Alabama 30 + 3 + 14 = 47
LSU 12 + 27 + 25 = 64

17 more (meaningful) points allowed is incredible considering you have faced only one offense in the top 50 in scoring, while we have faced two in the top 15. The only common opponent we've faced, Tennessee, scored 7 on us at Knoxville and 6 on Bama in Tuscaloosa.

It's probably a product of that great field position advantage LSU has due to their ST play.

Oh wait...

nope, it's philosphy. Miles/chavis feel when they are up big, ok to play soft, give teams the short stuff, let them drive and eat clock.

lsu let oregon do it twice late in the fourth, they let Au do it last week. second and third teamers in and Au put together a long 75 yard t.d. drive late. you can look at every game and see a late long scoring drive by lsu's opposing team.

Bama may have a better defense. That isn't my point. The point is our coaches don't put a emphasis on meaningless t.d.'s. it's strategy. win the game, the score, yards, ect. don't matter.

True. Florida scored 10 on y'all and 11 on us. That makes all the difference. Of course, their points against us were all scored after they were down 24-0, while the 10 they scored on you were when they had the lead on you.

They have both only lost 1, to the #1 and #2 teams in the nation, while Arky has played the harder schedule...

The key # in all of that is the total points allowed.

We've given up 81 points in the 16 drives that made it into our red zone.

Iowa is ranked #9 in RZ defense and have given up 133 points.

Southern Miss is #4th and has given up 95 points.

Wasn't the defensive stat differential even greater in Bama's favor last year?

I wish you guys would stop clinging to this "super tough schedule" myth. It's just funny to anyone who knows about football.

You've played maybe one top 10 team, just as Bama has.

Alabama hasnt played anyone as good as LSU has played this year. If Bama had played Oregon and West Virgina those stats would be alot closer.

West Virginia is NOT a good team. LSU just made them look like one

I'd say Arkansas and Oregon are about on par with each other. Maybe give Oregon the slight advantage

The 10 points they scored on us were with their actual QB Brantley, before he went down with an injury

all 11 points they scored on LSU were with the 3rd string guy seeing his first college action

Or you could look at it this way. 55% of the time, if you get in Bama's redzone you will score a touchdown. With LSU, opponents score a touchdown 56% of the time.

Seems pretty even to me. Especially considering that LSU has taken on a real OOC schedule, including Oregon and West Virginia.

or, just go with the timeless classic

60% of the time, it works... EVERY time!

That doesn't make any sense

I'm surprised that no one had pulled out the SEC only stats. Probably more meaningful...whatever that means...
