What? Over the course of a decade, what will OU’s record be against Arkansas? 8-2 or 7-3? You need to read.

You're about to get a rude awakening to real football. If your bowl record is any indication, your glory years are about to be over.

You do realize that that is a logically absurd statement, right? For every SEC team who won the national championship without winning a conference, there's another SEC who won the conference without winning a national championship.
That is, quite literally, logically absurd.
Every year, there is a guarantee of one team winning the SEC Championship. There is no guarantee of a non-conference champion winning the Natty. There is no Venn Diagram that can prove one data set includes even a portion of the other.
Now - to make it simple. Write down a list of all the SEC Champions that didn't win a National Title. Done yet ? Now - write down a list of all the non-SEC Champions that won a National Title.
That second list is quite a bit shorter, now ain't it. Because there is - quite logically - not one SEC team that won the Natty without winning the SEC to compare to every team that wins the SEC without winning the Natty. One list is quite a bit shorter than the other.

Sec sacrificed Florida, and made them play Oklahoma.....

Well - somebody had to. Dallas and Pittsburgh were already booked, I guess. Washington was going through that logo change. Florida took one for the league, evidently.

You just don't have the defensive personnel for SEC dominance and never really have.
You're team composition will have trouble over 12 games.
Lincoln needs to start recruiting differently now.
What do you mean never have? You saying these defenses were not up to SEC standards?
Mid '70s:
Hall of Famer, Outland, Lombardi winner Leroy Selmon
Three time All American Rod Shoate
Two time All American Dewey Selmon
All American Jimbo Elrod
Alll American Zac Henderson
Three time All American George Cumby
Mid '80s defenses:
2 time Butkus winner Bosworth
Lombardi winner Tony Casillas
Jim Thorpe winner Rickey Dixon
All American Dante Jones
All American Kevin Murphy
One year they were #1 in every major defensive statistical category except one, which they were #2.
Early 2000's defense:
Two time all American and Lombardi winner Tommie Harris
Two time all American and Butkus winner Rocky Calmus
Two time all American and Butkus winner Teddy Lehman
All American and Jim Thorpe winner Roy Williams,
All American, Jim Thorpe, and Broncho Nagursky winner Derrick Strait
Or I'll let Houston Nutt speak for it.
"This was the best defense we've seen in the 15 to 20 years we've been coaching," Nutt said.

Agreed that the defensive talent has been absent for years prior to Riley. However, Riley addressed the situation and it looks as though our defensive talent is on an uptick. Realistically, the Sooners need continued momentum on the defensive recruiting side as we transition into the SEC. hopefully, the logo on the front of the jersey helps with better recruiting.

Agreed but these people saying OU has never had great defenses must be 15 years old. Coaching played a role but also the fact that it became very difficult to recruit defensive talent into the Big 12. That was not the case before the 2010's.
I can't speak for the Bud Wilkinson years but in the '70s, '80s, and at least a good portion of the '00s OU was known for defense.
The previous 7 or 8 years not including last year has been an anomaly (thanks to BOTH Venables and Mike Stoops) .

Understood. But, from 2009-2017 it was awful. There were multiple issues. We went smaller on defense to run around with B12 offenses, which in turn got us ran over in bowls by bigger run games. We also looked decent on recruiting rankings, but we were getting defensive four stars with terrible offer lists. Now, we are getting defensive talent that are offered by a lot of good teams. We are also getting bigger and faster guys. Grinch and crew have done a good job of moving that side of the ball along.

Grinch has been doing an outstanding job. Our DL is elite. Was good last year. Honestly, OU could suit up the Dallas Cowboys and people here would say we’re not physical or big enough.

Absolutely.
Mike Stoops (and maybe Venables) really overthought it. He tried to counter the spread offenses and just ended up with terrible defenses. And once that momentum starts it is hard to turn around.
He also switched to a defensive scheme he didn't know as well. Had he come in with the philosophy be brought in '99 he may have been fine, certainly better than it ended up.

Reminds me of arguing with an Arkansas fan back when McFadden was still there about who was better, Adrian Peterson or (chicken legs) Darren McFadden.
At the time Peterson was setting records in the NFL. The Arkansas fan was, "But McFadden is doing it in the SEC!"
In retrospect I was probably arguing with a 12 year old...

I’m not sold on “elite”. I think we’ll be really good. The depth built over the last few years is evident at all 3 defensive levels. To be elite, or labeled as elite, we’ll have to do it against the premier teams in the playoffs. Overall, if we stay healthy, this is Riley’s best team yet.

Clearly Sark knows how to beat OU’s defense. TBD is he has a QB and WR’s good enough to execute the gameplan..
Sark vs Riley should be fun..

This isn’t going to be as fun as you are hoping. Lincoln is four years ahead of Sark in recruiting to his needs. People don’t realize the defensive mess that Grinch inherited. This will be the first year that Grinch pretty much has his guys on the field.
