First of all, the team this year will not be the one playing in the SEC. At the earliest, we’re looking at next year and that team will be way different than this one. We won’t be bringing back 9 of 11 starters on defense and we will most likely be breaking in a brand new QB in Caleb Williams. Can OU be a top 3 SEC team? Absolutely, but until we get in the conference and start playing the schedule there’s no way to know. Most OU fans aren’t here beating their chest and I know that’s not what the OP is doing. I get it, we don’t play the toughest schedule and it damn sure doesn’t help when you lose to K-State and Iowa State. End of discussion. OU needs to freight train every team on the schedule this season and not take the foot off of the gas. Prove you belong, win a playoff game and see if we can’t win a Natty. If we can do that, the narrative changes. The problem is, our last few games against the SEC with a spot in the National Championship haven’t gone well. Can we be a top SEC team? Yep, but it’s too early for that. Time to strap the pads and helmets on and get it going in 2021. Win it all and nobody can question us any longer. Sorry for the long answer but until we play a conference SEC schedule it’s all guess work and BS

Not anti-OU and I think OU will have seasons where they finish in the top 2, but I don't think it will be regular, yearly thing.

Alabama will have a top 2 spot locked most years. Georgia consistently recruits at a higher level than OU and has been a consistent top 5-10 yearly recently. LSU is two years removed from being one of the most dominant teams in CFB history and also recruits at a top-5 level yearly. Texas A&M is coming off a top 5 season and is also loaded with talent. Then factor in Auburn and Florida with their resources and history.

It's just with the SEC's depth it's going to be extremely hard for OU to consistently break into the top 2.

Y’all have a legitimate chance to do that. Alternatively, you might find life in the SEC more difficult than you imagine. It’s hard to lose to Kansas state and Iowa State and still declare yourself better than everybody in the SEC (sans Bama).

Seems to me like being in the sec will only increase our chances of being ranked higher than normal. I mean, when we lose a game we will only drop one, maybe two spots at the most because we’ll be sec. Isn’t that how it normally works?

You're a blueblood program. You will get benefit of the doubt and a high pre season ranking, of this I have no doubt. Can you keep it with the grind of the SEC? That is the question.

You finished behind Alabama and A&M last year and I’d be willing to bet the house Georgia would beat you. LSU had an off year but they beat you 9/10 too.

Your best season since Johnny Cocaine was a hideous lie. But go ahead and keep mocking us for beating Florida like a drum, unlike A&M. BTW, your best win against one of the two teams A&M beat with a winning record.

Be honest and tell me why you’re think OU a will not be the 2nd or 3rd best team in the sec.

The 1-2 losses in a soft conference like the Big 12 turns to 3-4 in the SEC. Also, the slog through this conference takes its toll on all teams, generally week in and week out. We'll see how they adjust.

Despite the success for Oklahoma, I would rank them as the fifth best program when they finally arrive. I would put them behind Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and probably Florida.

I think that expanding the playoffs to twelve teams would help Oklahoma, otherwise they would have a difficult time making a four team playoff.

When OU got their arse smoked by LSU in the playoff the LSU coaching staff was telling everybody before the game that OU was probably the 6th best team they played the entire season and they were going to roll. The phrase “15th ranked team at best” was used when they were watching film.

The LSU coaching staff was right. OU is consistently overrated. They aren’t talented enough. If anyone thinks as-is, OU is good enough to keep up, they are straight up delusional. OU recruits as a “right around 10” program and that’s generally what they are, just inflated because of such a weak schedule. Could that change? Sure. But anyone that buys the OU hype until the program takes a step forward is just dumb. If OU recruits at their current level they will be on pr with Auburn type success. Which is what they would have been had they played in the SEC the past decade. Simple as that. The idea that because OU has had top5 rankings somehow means that if they played in the SEC West the past decade they would have seen success is laughable.

12-0 is alot different when you go through some combination of Bama, A&M, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, MSU, Tennessee, & Kentucky to get there.

Love seeing lists like this without tFlagship. We beat 4 of them just last year after Aggy Chad went 0'fer

OU's offense is a lot easier to prepare for when one has two or three weeks, than 3 days.

I suspect that SEC teams will adapt just fine.

The thing about OU that we can hate on, is every time it comes down to the CFP, you lose to an SEC school. Every time you won a bowl game vs an SEC opponent, it was a disappointed team that was on the border and didn’t make the playoff. Then you see all the OU fans acting like they’d take over the SEC. In those games OU treated it like the National Title, while the SEC teams were disappointed to even be there.

EXACTLY!! That’s why it was so nice to watch them get man handled by Alabama and LSU in games that actually mattered. Not just man handled but completely dominated. Especially by LSU. It was one of the few games where I was actually glad to see Alabama kick their arse because I know how OU fans can be in this regard. They’ve always had a chip on their shoulder with the SEC. it’s hilarious that they’re now joining. I can’t wait until they lose their first conference game to a random inferior opponent like Ole Miss or Arkansas

I doubt that anyone with a whit of intelligence would be surprised if y'all are up there. It's that we don't think you realize what you're walking into in this conference. shite's getting ready to get real!

It is about to get real. Works both ways. About to get real for the teams that will be on our schedule

You’re out of your fricking mind. Takes awhile to get used to Big 12 offenses week after week.
