Calm down, son.

Oklahoma is like 6-5 vs the SEC in the last 20 years.

You guys will understand why we don’t think you’re a top 2 or 3 SEC team. Will you be after 5 or 6 years of acclimation? Maybe

No

I have nothing against OU. However, you aren't SEC ready. I truly, truly doubt you will win an SEC championship in the next 15 years. You are taking the money and you will take the arse whippings as well.

You have killed your almost automatic chance to the college playoffs every year with your move to the SEC. Your only chance to get into the playoffs going forward is for the SEC to get a second team in the playoffs. You don't even have much chance at that.

Nick Saban just signed a new contract through 2028. OU will not be one of the teams that will be challenging Nick for the top spot. 7 on 7 football won't win championships in the SEC.

Recently, you guys have feasted on a weak conference. Away games are a completely different animal in the SEC. Walking into Tiger Stadium, Bryant-Denny, Jordan-Hare, Vaught-Hemmingway, Neyland, The Swamp, etc. and coming away with a W is infinitely more difficult than winning at Baylor, TCU, Kansas, etc.

Im sure OU and Riley will be petrified

I know that LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Florida etc are no Baylor and K-State, but I’m sure the SEC teams will adapt to the level of the mighty Oklahoma Sooners and their coach who has never won a playoff game before too long

Didn’t the Ags beat Vandy by only five points 17-12? Iowa St and K St would truck Vandy

OU will be in the thick of things every year and have a bunch of really good, even elite years. But some years when things don't go right they'll go 8-4 or 9-3 instead of 11-1 or 10-2.

You’re right. We’ll be the Kansas of the SEC.

I think you guys park right behind UGA and LSU.

Do you need a reminder of the playoff games you’ve been in?

Every single one of those were against the SEC champion. When we play the other big dogs we do very well. (A&M game aside.)

How good would Florida or Auburn or A&M look if they were only measured against the SEC champion?

Also, the defense we will bring in will not be the defense we had in those games. We improved dramatically last year after having a stretch of truly horrid defenses. Even if they take a step back, they will never be as bad as the last several years under Mike Stoops. They were so bad I wondered why we would ever punt the ball.

Even an average defense would have likely won us a title. Hell we took Georgia into several overtime’s in spite of Mike Stoops.

I will agree that the OU team that played LSU didn’t deserve to be there. I said that before the game. The defense was still very suspect and as much as I liked Jalen Hurts, he wasn’t in the same league as his predecessors and was not capable of holding up in the shootout.

Just to echo what others have said ...

I'm not anti - Oklahoma. Frankly, I wish this deal was OU and OSU. The Sooners are going to fit in just fine. Seriously - glad you are joining.

But it's going to be an adjustment. The week to week grind is a real grind, and that grind is unlike anything else in college football. Some years, certain Big10 teams get close to it if they catch the right teams on the schedule.

And yes - Oklahoma has great offense. But its going to be something to see - and you are going to see it - when SEC schools that are not at the top of the league run a dive for five yards ... over and over and over again.

First year in the SEC - Oklahoma is going to upset somebody. And get upset two or three times. Until they bulk up on both lines. And generally rebuild that roster. And learn how to get off the field on defense.

Your right. Riley has been a head coach for all these many years. He may be past his prime. Since he’s been head coach at OU he has consistently gotten worse. He should be fired.

Amazes me A&M could say that considering they never once were able to come remotely close to doing that.

Yea, I don't think anyone with a brain doubts Oklahoma will slide right in and be near the top of the league. However, there are 4-5 of those teams in this league compared to......1? 0?....in their previous league.

They'll have great years (12-0/11-1), really good years (10-2/9-3)and the occasional just good year (9-3/8-4).

The margin for error with your schedule in this league for 1/3 of your league games is just much smaller than it is in the previous league.

OU, Bama, and UGA all appear to be on the same level this year but OU just doesn't get it done in the playoffs. Maybe this will be the year. Good luck.

Bwahahaha. And they only beat Vandy by 5 points! 17-12. Seems like OU is judged by a different set of rules here.. Bama can give up 46 points to Florida and 48 points to Ole Miss but that’s fine. It’s SEC.

You are right. That’s why I’m glad we’re getting elites recruits in larger numbers. This upcoming season will demonstrate this point.

Apparently I should be more clear, because you don’t seem to be very good at picking up on subtlety

I think that Oklahoma will be a good addition to the SEC. You guys will be competitive, and will be in Atlanta relatively early in the transition.

I also believe that you are waaaaaay underestimating your competition and fluffing up the level of play in the Big 12. It has been a powder puff league the past decade or so. That doesn’t detract from your success, it just means that you’re more likely to have more trouble early on than you’re willing to admit right now. You know how 2020 OU kind of slumped through the start of Big 12 play? You’ll end up with an LSU style 5-5 record if you do that in the SEC in 2020.

That’s all we’re trying to tell you here.
