You are defending him lol.
He used race to help himself recruit. Thats what he did. He’s a scumbag. Never had any bad thoughts about him before other than being goofy and posting funny tweets. But he crossed the line. He knew exactly what he was doing. He in his position could have said nothing, next topic. But he made a calculated decision to trash OM using race as a guise.
He is not good for the conference. And it around the country people will associate OM as SEC and it just opened up old wounds.
That father made an effort to call in and clarify how it went with his son. Thats how reaching this has become. Its not just a small little local issue.
Just wait til Sports TV does leadup to their game. They will use this to bring in more viewers, they only care how to increase eyes. He only had to defer the topic knows better, which is why it was intentional by him.

Lane can hide behind how he was talking about perception as much as he wants. People have “perceived” that he was taking a shot at Ole Miss and Oxford, regardless of the veracity of what he said. Both can be valid.

If he didnt intend to use the comment as a negative recruiting tool and to further slight his former employer he could have followed up with “I understand the history but present day OM doesnt deserve that stigma, no longer that place”
Would have been very easy. He could have done it in the follow up conversation with the editor which only made Lane look like more of a douche
