Look what we have here. Says his son is now in NFL so the slueths here can likely figure out who it was. But Lane really messed up bringing race into recruiting.

Lane said recruits parents/grandparents brought it up. How would this guy be able to dispute that?
He didn't say ALL of them did.
And it's not that far fetched considering a ton of young black males in the South were raised by grandparent(s) who lived in a time when Ole Miss was on the news for stuff.
Ole Miss and Oxford aren't a racist place, but it's hard to break perception of old timers. Lane never said HE thought it was racist and it's his job to recruit, it's plenty diverse, LSU and Baton Rouge is just MORE diverse.

Wait you mean lane wouldn’t bring up a negative when recruiting a player to school? Thats surprising.

Yep it’s a nothing burger that got blown out of proportion. If I posted every negative thing that an ex player’s family has ever came out about a coach I wouldn’t have a lifetime to find them all.

Jason Whitlock with some interesting comments too.

You didn’t listen. Parent was not being negative. He is telling the story of how Lane went out of his way to say how diverse and safe it was at OM for the parents Black son. Thats the point. And it clashes with Vanity Fair article.
If it was a great place to play for all races (according to Lane) then you can’t go and trash them because of race.
All Lane had to do is defer the topic. Thats it. Instead he showed the whole country who he is.
Its going to be funny when he fails and then the LSU fans will say same thing. He is going to under immense pressure to make playoffs every year.

I highly doubt Lane considers Ole Miss racist.
If anything he likes Ole Miss a lot and hates gawdy purple and gold.
He likes Lane more.

Baton Rouge is more black, let’s just call this what it is. That ain’t more diverse, it’s just blacker

Someone is getting worried that another is posting on a football board about a football coach who made bad comments.
Its only going to get worse this fall in leadup to game. The TV and press will bring it up for ratings to stir the pot.
Tell your coach to keep his mouth shut about racial issues and this would never be a topic. He is giving the whole conference a bad look
Or ignore the posts about it.

Interest? Its national news. It is making the SEC look racist. He stirred the pot for self gain. And it drags the whole conference down by association.

Yep.
You absolutely watch reality shows. Probably get highly invested too. Be honest you scream at the tv when the girl picks the guy you don’t like huh.

I hate to defend Kiffin but you are misrepresenting what he said in the Vanity Fare article.
He said the FAMILIES of some of the recruits brought up the old time issues at Ole Miss..... and that it was an obstacle for him.
Ole Miss has tried to rectify a lot of those things perceived as racist and has received a lot of backlash for doing so... but the fact of the matter is a lot of that stuff dies hard in the Black community.
Ole Miss can't win for losing.
It would have been better if Kiffin hadn't brought it up at all...
But I don't hink he was lying or even "trashing" Ole Miss about race. Just pointing out the stigma the University has had over all that history.

If I'm a parent of a kid who has multiple offers in the SEC, I'm using Ole Miss to drive up the price. Then I'll bring up racism as the reason he won't play in Oxford.
And then I'm sending the kid to Alabama, where they've never had problems with racism.

But Captdalton and AHM21 told me that LSU is the only racist school?
