So he is blaming OU for his lack of talent at OU. OK

Whatever, just shows he’s not a top coach. A top coach will make OU competitive in the playoffs.

Rumor is his wife caught him having an affair. Thus the real reason he moved. Of course he’s not going to say that to the media so he’s just making stuff up as he goes.

The way he teased those OU fans and made them feel secure after the Okie State game was uncalled for. His quote makes him sound even more arrogant. I don’t think he’s near the genius that he thinks he is

LMAO, that's your own damn fault if you can't recruit at OU.

You're a national brand, and pretty much the only show left in the Big 12. You should be robbing Texas BLIND for its talent.

Coming to the SEC would mean you also get better access to the deep south recruits

Sounds like he'd conceded defeat well before the first ball was even snapped.

So long Riley. You won't be missed.

He recruited for B12 style of play. Not for the SEC. Teams just not physical enough for SEC teams in playoffs.

He isn’t really telling the truth.

We're going to lose our Texas recruiting pipelines by joining the SEC?

I doubt that very much....

The expectations of 10+ wins and a conference title in almost every season is going to hit a brick wall of reality.

I don't know any Sooner fans who think we will have the same level of gridiron success as we did in the B12. What we ARE excited about is the level of competition. You know this as well as I do: the B12 became an offense-focused league which inadvertently but effectively lowered all ships. In the same year we finally cut ties with the Mike Leach coaching tree, we got back to a defensive-minded staff, AND we are joining the strongest conference in the nation. Could not be more pleased.

Plus for me and I've said this numerous times: I stopped going to road games several years ago. Now, we get to replace literal wastelands like Manhattan KS, Lubbock, Stillwater, etc. with the great venues of the SEC. Cannot fricking wait to do road games in the SEC.

Good deal, but a lot of those places are really tough to win.

I understand. That's where the tailgating atmosphere becomes important.

West Coast has OL, DL, LB, Secondary. They just happen to be going to Oregon, Washington, Georgia, Bama, Ohio State. Reilly could change that if he gets the train rolling at USC. West Coast kids will want to play for a strong USC team that competes and wins against Big 10 and SEC

He can beat Washington and Oregon head to head for recruits. He is no longer trying pluck all his players out of Texas and away from UTex and A&M

I don't buy it either. USC will probably never even make it to the playoffs. That is some pretty stupid reasoning. The reason he moved was because of the employment package he got along with lower expectations to perform. He knows chokelahoma is going to have a difficult time in the SEC performing at a level their alumni expect.

The teams he is talking about not being able to compete with are SEC teams. He knew what was going to happen when he would have to start playing those same teams in conference instead of the weak Big12 teams he was use to.

It was more than that. LR was facing losing several players to the portal, including some of the offense guys. He knew that and that is why he would have gone to LSU or USC, or wherever. You LSU fans should be glad he went to USC. The middle of the road B12 teams found out that LR could not beat lesser talented teams that went with 2-high. OU was lucky in a couple of games this year. And it wasn't what OU fans call OU magic, it was blind luck. If you run the GT counter every play, it actually simplifies LB and DT reads. The GTC will work, if you only run it sometimes. Grinch's D is gimmicky and bhe back seven was confused at all times.

People I know who played FB at OU and other schools were confused and frustrated with "what to heck" plays on both sides of the ball. And as information came from players, it turned out our concerns were worse than we thought. Our biggest issues is that someone, along with his assistant coaches (and their wives) do not make that decision in 4-6 hours, and they just so happen to find you a house in the 4-6 hours for you to move into. Just tell the truth that you had been talking to USC since they hired the previous coach

Most of the fans I communicate with don't expect OU to come in and dominate in the SEC like they have been the B12 and earlier the B8. What OU will do is talk about what they do on the field, not what they are going to do. We left all that going to do bragging to a couple of texas based schools. But, just having much superior coaching should make the team more hard-nosed and tough to the end of the game. So, they may surprise a few on these boards. What I hope OU never does is use excuses when they lose, like they heard from Forida and Auburn before them. You get beat, you get beat. When I played ball, I hated excuses. Sometimes you just have to look in the mirror.

LR will make the playoffs at USC, maybe as early as this year.

In other words, he scared.

The same things are going to happen to him at USC as it did at OU (get into playoffs, give up 40-63 points in a blowout loss) as long as he keeps guys like Grinch as his DC.

It could happen, as USC will have more talent. I look at Utah to make them look bad and maybe Oregon. There is a lot of film on what LR can and can't do. And no lead is safe with Grinch.

He knew that he and OU didn’t have a shot in the SEC. They got ran by damn near every SEC team they played. Especially in the playoffs

Not unless he proves to kids that he runs a program where defenders learn how to play defense and get to the next level. And he might, but his words and actions show that he thinks his philosophy at Oklahoma on the defensive side of the ball was just fine.
