Not to mention that most of them walk around scared of way too many things. If your twenty-something kid is like this, you failed as a parent.
Fetterman's support for Israel is a categorical blackball for the "Love Trumps Hate" crowd.

I am reminded of John Hopoate...

Same. I am working on my shrimp and grits game as a result. Got the grits down well enough, but I need a recipe for the shrimp that doesn't require a bunch of ingredients I don't usually keep reasonably handy (and are readily available here in Upper Southern Canada).

Wait, you really believe that China will replace America as Canada’s primary trading partner?
I cited a very specific commodity and the issues behind a well-established pricing disparity.
For that case and that reason, China has already become (last year) the biggest customer for their oil.

Vast, VAST majority of them are just doing their jobs. How are they “selling out”?

NGL, I do eat more chicken and pork these days. Even stew meat runs $6-7 a pound.

Talked to a Canadian buddy from a former life in oil & gas yesterday. Pipeline, specifically.
He was bringing me up to speed on projects taking product from Alberta to the west coast for sale to Asia. I asked why this new capacity was being built.
Told me that Canadian oil has historically been sold to the US at a discount, owing to convenience and accessibility (and maybe diplomacy). Google confirms this has been about $15-20 per bbl for a long time.
Says the declining relationship was not the original catalyst, but is likely a factor in getting all the permits they need to go through the mountains as quickly as they are. Canadians less inclined to take that haircut these days.

I suspect you are under 30 and didn’t do very well in world history. And you do know that Russia has a formidable nuclear navy? You should inform yourself better pal. Just saying .
I’m twice that and read this kind of stuff on a regular basis (RealClearHistory and RealClearDefense) just for fun. Unless you are some sort of Annapolis professor, trying to sound like you have some unique perspective here just makes you look idiotic.
We can debate the actual capabilities of the Russian sub fleet (à la Ike and JFK) all day long, but their surface fleet is a joke. Even if they DID have any ability (much less desire) to meddle over here, how is PR a significant factor compared to Cuba and (up until recently) Venezuela. Has ANYBODY been making the case that Russia has been using these as some sort of back door to the US? I mean, maybe if they can suck up to the PLA enough, they could tag team enough to worry about here, but why would they?
Why on Earth would they have any inclination to deploy assets here when the world is laughing at them for the shite show they have going on next door?
I swear, what are you? Some sort of Dr. Strangelove cosplay character?

they would align with Cuba and Russia and be a threat to us pretty close to our mainland.
And how is Cuba a threat to us? Are they going to refloat the Mariel boat lift and invade us on the hoods of 1958 Chevy’s?
As for Russia, they have their hands full trying to drive 200 miles over land to Kiev. The days of them projecting any kind of blue water naval threat are rusting away in Murmansk.
Are Jamaica or the Dominican some kind of threat that I’m not aware of?
