Absolutely not. I want Greg Sankey kicked out of the SEC.

Does Alabama know you're being logical?
Is Alabama behind this movement against LSU or is it tenn and UGA?
The obsession with Alabama for some of you is insane. Even when we aren't your enemy all you see is us.

The vast majority of posters who want LSU punished in some way are incapable of articulating why they even want LSU punished. Other than simple dislike of those involved.
LSU fans are like a 5 year old with cookie all over his face trying to convince his parents he hadn't been in the cookie jar.
Straight denial with an inability to understand how he got caught.

No.
And its all posturing for now in time both will kiss and make up
But if it happens I bet Tulane is licking their chops.

Exactly, the conference has rules and should enforce them. If LSU doesn't like the rules and breaks them, they can either take the penalties or leave.
I don't understand the conference's decision to sue LSU or threaten expulsion before any rules were broken, there was no need for any of that and it only needlessly escalated matters.
LSU was only going to break the rule, or not break it. Let your penalties be what they are and stand behind them. There was no need to immediately jump to the worst case scenario, before the rule was even violated.
If I'm missing something, please point it out.
I don't think it was LSUs intent to not roster the players in question. I think the conference saw it as a existential threat to its ability to govern members. LSU backed down. The conference is still faced with the existential threat because LSU willingly backed down, UGA may not....and the conference has to govern every member. The conference could not bring the suit against Vanderbilt, Vandy is not the one who created the existential threat - LSU did. If you, me and a third party agree to do something and ask a 4th party to regulate our doing that thing and one of the three, fully intending to not abide by that regulation, signals they are no longer in agreement the regulator can either abide by it or take action to ensure its authority to regulate.
LSU has raised a valid point however. I am a pretty close follower of CFB and I did not know, until LSU did what it did, that other programs had done even worse things....I certainly did not know that there are players playing on Saturday today who had done more than flirted with the NFL....apparently that is the case. I think that the SEC will use LSU as the whipping boy to regulate that in the future at all schools and LSU probably knew this going in given the history of their new coach in the conference.
I don't think the conference prevails. I think they will initially but I do not think the courts will allow the SEC to govern its members anymore than it has allowed the NCAA to govern its members.
When is all is said and done the lack of regulation will be the end of collegiate athletics. You can't simultaneously support the courts ending of NCAA or Conference authority to regulate AND complain about a lack of regulation. We all jumped the shark when Texas Tech fully intended to roster a degenerate gambler....and they, like LSU, eventually decided not to, there was no authority to force that decision. These issues are going to appear miniscule when the courts finally do away with ANY authority to regulate. No pro sports league would survive without some regulation. That is where collegiate athletics is headed and it will not survive. Most likely the academicians on campus will eliminate the AD at every school in the nation at that point because most of them do not like athletics but more to the point the money that an AD makes is tiny compared to academics and there are already signs of athelitics cutting on on academic donations.
There has to be some authority to regulate. Without it there will not be collegiate athletics.

Though the guideline was never technically violated, LSU made it pretty clear the intent was to do so.
I agree, LSU wanted something that the SEC did not. Yet LSU did not violate any stated guidelines.
Is their lack of humble obedience to Sanky's wishes actually driving this?
I really don't think it was just Sankey. All the rumors about other college presidents/chancellors raising hell definability have some truth to them.

No. They add a lot to the conference.

No. I’m glad for my school to be in this conference and look forward to playing LSU.

LSU fans here deserve the angst they are getting as retribution for all of the “you’re scared” post in response to anything not slobbering all over the Kiffin hire.
To be fair, the conference freaking out over LSU not actually violating any rules certainly doesn't make them appear not scared.

I agree. And the conference has did itself no favors in appearing to be a responsible governing entity through any of this.

A core tenant of the rules is that you don’t break them. I doubt there is a single member of the SEC that hasn’t broken a rule.
Even though, in this situation, no one can point out which rule LSU allegedly broke yet they are expulsion worthy according to Sankey.

From the get go LSU admin should have told Kiffin it was their way...and the conference's way....or the highway.
The whole problem was the SEC had no “way”. Plenty of other schools recruited those guys. Other schools have players who were in NFL mini-camps. The changing the rules as we go/selective enforcement is the issue.
Ole Miss has a player who signed with the Pistons. Not one word from the SEC about it.

No, I don't want LSU out of the league. I am starting to wonder if this could happen though. Very strange things are happening it seems...

No, but I think other schools are right to be skeptical of the clear alignment between LSU athletics and the state’s political and judicial system in a world where there is no clear eligibility enforcement mechanism.

Who gives a F what they think? Coming here to poll them smells of pussy.

Nah, I don't want them coming to the Big 12 and kicking our arse every year.
It would be kinda funny though. This board would explode.
