But I also want all SEC member institutions to follow the rules that the conference has established
And LSU just wants equal treatment as the other SEC members get.
Bama was never threatened by the SEC with sanctions or expulsion if they rostered Charles Bediako after he got the initial TRO granted. And that situation was way more cut and dry than the LSU players because it had long been the rule that basketball players gave up any remaining NCAA eligibility once they declare for the NBA draft. And not only did he go through the draft, he spent 2 full seasons in the G-League and signed contracts with multiple NBA teams in that span. He wasn't one of the 5-for-5 players that only attempted to go pro because he thought he was out of NCAA eligibility until the NCAA changed the rules.
The SEC argument against LSU's 2 players being ineligible while other schools were allowed to roster players who spent time in NFL camps over the summer were that the 2 LSU players signed an NFL contract. Well, Bediako signed an NBA contract and actually played in pro games. But the league office never threatened to punish Alabama. The SEC followed the court ruling for the initial TRO and CB played in a few games until the legal case played out and the NCAA / SEC won in court.
I hate the whole situation of NCAA saying a player is ineligible or exhausted their eligibility, and then the player going to the local hometown court and getting a TRO that says he can play. But if that nonsense is going to happen, then the SEC either needs to follow the court ruling in all of the cases....or threaten punishment to the school that rosters the player in question in all cases. I don't want LSU to leave the SEC, but don't tell us we're going to be expelled for doing the exact same thing that another member did just a few months prior.

See you are still missing the point. LSU back channeled the connect these players to these attorneys. In the eyes of the SEC (other member institutions) and Sankey, it is no different than LSU dragging the commissioner to Baton Rouge for a show trial with the intent to embarrass the commissioner. Along with the Governor, state attorney general, and members of Lousisiana's contingent in the United States Congress cheering it on.
yeah - we copied what Ole Miss and UT did. then Sankey decided that if you made it past mini camp that you were a "pro athlete" and couldn't play in the SEC, so the athletes said ok SEC - you're in the lawsuit now too - what were they supposed to do say oh well the SEC said no so we're just going to quit trying to make money.

I understand the reasoning, but does this mean that the SEC is now forced to allow this in all cases because they failed to act on the first few last year? I don’t agree with that, if so.

To be fair, the conference freaking out over LSU not actually violating any rules certainly doesn't make them appear not scared.
That’s not fair. It’s delusional.
Why would we be scared of Kiffin’s record?

No, but I think other schools are right to be skeptical of the clear alignment between LSU athletics and the state’s political and judicial system in a world where there is no clear eligibility enforcement mechanism.
So is Tennessee on this shite list too, because their state govt absolutely got involved in suing the NCAA over an investigation into UTk.

I don't know, what are you scared of exactly?

I don’t know. I’ve never seen the shite list.
I also think Louisiana as a state government has a reputation that Tennessee does not, fair or unfair.

I’m scared that somebody will come after Eric Morris with a contract offer bigger than Kiffin’s.

If that's the sort of logic that this based upon, then the SEC is a dead conference walking. If they want rules, pass them and make them public and enforce them consistently. If the courts disagree with their rules, either comply or appeal to a higher court.
Don't make rules on the fly and then adapt them multiple times to make it fit the situation, don't do an end run around court rulings, and don't make nebulous claims based on "reputation" or colorful language. Otherwise, the reputation of the SEC office is the one cast in a bad light.

Let me ask directly: Do the non-LSU fans on this board want LSU kicked out of the SEC?
Yes, because it would be hilarious.
