So he was either implying Saban was forced out, or he could have been referring to literally any other coach who retired.
Great journalism there by SEC Mike
Pretty much, and even if he were actually talking about Saban, there's plausible deniability.
ETA- I don't personally believe Saban was forced out. That'd be nuts first off, and second, I doubt he'd be consulting there.

3 pages about a made up quote.
It's going to be long arse summer on this board.

He basically said that coaching "marriages" never last forever because both parties won't be happy forever, you can wish it would because it's a feel good story, then he says "maybe Nick Saban...."
KIffin is already dissappointed in his decision to coach at LSU and is seemingly setting the stage for his early departure by saying this:
quote:
"marriages" never last forever because both parties won't be happy forever, you can wish it would because it's a feel good story
That's brutal. Maybe due to LSU's experience with creepy head coaches, they are trying to curtail Kiffin's stalking of young girls or something and he is probably not liking that type of control over private affairs?

It just seems like every time the SECr gets opened, there’s another thread about something Kiffin said or did
The solution would be for Kiffin not to say and do stupid and/or insulting and/or juvenile things seemingly every day.
Lane Kiffin just threw shade. Again. This time it seems to be at Nick Saban, the man Kiffin owes for not being stuck in purgatory as a QB coach at Fresno State for the rest of his life.
I don’t know that any of us have ever seen an SEC head coach that is as juvenile and self-destructive as Lane Kiffin. Lately he has been a walking, talking train wreck and people can’t help but talk about that.

Mostly those among us who have no reading and comprehension skills, and chase after click bait.

The irony is he spends as much time on message boards and Twitter as you do.

Ol Willy T is the very definition of a fair weather fan. Non-stop until the tiggers hit a bump in the road and he disappears for weeks.

yeah there's just no way anyone would try and force him out. They'd be the most despised person in Alabama sports history. No chance that someone would go there.

I’m convinced he’s just saying stupid stuff to keep his name in the media.
It's worked pretty well for him so far. But, there has to be a line.

They used to call it Asperger's but the libs changed it to be included on the spectrum

He also seems to have some ADHD, he'll start a sentence with something, pause, and go a completely different direction. It makes for some weird context and soundbites.

He’s still trying to rationalize leaving Ole Miss by saying he was getting out while he had a marketable name and folks were happy with his results. Not sure why he brought up Nick Saban here.

In the recording, he was basically saying that no place is secure long-term so the idea that he could just chill at Ole Miss and be safe was wrong. He said basically all coaching tenures end bad eventually, except for "maybe Saban...".
Then he said he didn't want to get into names because there were situations where it looked to have ended amicably but the coach was actually forced to retire.
Most of this is me paraphrasing, it's at around and after 20:00 in the video.

I know nothing about your team other than you’re screwed if Leavitt isn’t what he’s paid to be.
So you're saying if a team's starting QB doesn't play well it might be in trouble?? This kind of insightful brilliance is wasted on a message board; you should be getting paid dropping nuggets like that.
You should have just stopped at "I know nothing. . ."

It's because he lost the backing of the national media and he absolutely needs to be liked by them. He gave Chris Low exclusive access to work as his mouth piece and even Chris doesnt stick up for him anymore. He's getting shite on nationally every time he does an article where he tries to justify his actions but he thinks if he says it enough, the tide will eventually turn in his favor. Really, he just needs to shut up and win some football games and the story moves on.

He seems to have a real problem with people saying he "hasn't changed" because he took the LSU job. He says if he hadn't actually changed, he would have taken the Auburn job and that he was just taking a better job in LSU.
He also said that understands he's the villian right now, and would have embraced that in the past, but now it bothers him. But he knows winning cures everything.
I agree though, he needs to just stop doing interviews and tweeting, if it really bothers him that much.
