Takes 3, THREE letters before people recognize the brand. At Bama a single lone letter of the alphabet, the script A, is all it takes for people to know.

And it's known globally.

His agent might have. I don't know. Who does he use?

No. No it isn't. If I show it here in Croatia, people will say "Atlanta Braves"

BTW, why do we need another alt here?

Gumps love al.com writers and their "stories"

Are you saying he didn’t want the job?

Because anyone connected in Tuscaloosa knows he did desperately.

Probably was there were too many people involved in the process who remembered his time in Tuscaloosa for that to happen.

Doesn’t mean he’s not a talented coach, but he’d already put everyone through the “Lane Kiffin Experience” and the power brokers weren’t ready for round two.

Kiffin was never a candidate, DeBoer was their guy from the jump. They enjoyed that rose bowl loss to Michigan so much that when they saw him lose the NC to Michigan the following week they said “that’s our guy”. Two years later DeBoer has returned them to glory with his own embarrassing Rose Bowl loss. Bama got their guy and the rest is history

What is known, is that unless Alabama has a change at the top Kiffin will never be considered for the Alabama job. Too much history off the field ...

Why are Alabama fans so obsessed with LSU and Lane Kiffin? It’s very puzzling.

I believe part of this story. Did Kiffin want the Alabama job? Absolutely, what coach wouldn't. Just like Kiffin wanted the LSU job, when Kelly was hired but Woodward wouldn't entertain the idea. The part I won't believe is that Saban blocked it. Although he did work behind the scenes to keep Kiffin from Joining Orgeron and being his OC when O was hired as HC. This is no secret. So Saban blocked Alabama from hiring him but recommended him to LSU and told Kiffin LSU was the best job in the country ( Saban's words not mine ) Yeah ok

Is it farfetched to think Saban thinks Kiffin is good enough for the job and place he liked but wouldn't recommend him for the job and place he loved?

Saban is the same guy who recommended Houston Nutt for his replacement at LSU.The man doesn’t want anybody in Alabama who would have a chance at winning Natties like he did.His ego couldn’t handle it.Nick is for Nick and no one else.He know the next great coach there would do what he did,it’s been proven in the past with BEAR.

The point is that Saban didn't block Kiffin because he was radioactive...he blocked him because he was a threat to win big.

Instead of hiring a guy who had never even appeared in a P4 conference title game - Kiffin - he instead picked a coach fresh off a P4 conference championship and a national championship title game appearance. LSU fans have corndogs for brains.

DeBoer is in his 12th season as a head coach and he’s only lost 4 games twice

Alabama coach Nick Saban, who was helping find his replacement after he retired in 2024, blocked Kiffin from getting the job.

Saint Nick didn’t want Lane to end up in a crap situation at a school that plays basketball players who are complicit in murder. Very solid move by Nick. No wonder he loves LSU so much after all these years.

Nutt won 8 games or more in 7 of his 10 seasons at Arkansas. During that same time frame he won 3 of the 4 division titles Arkansas won in program history. We have seen what Arkansas football is over the last decade. Nutt winning 8-10 games most seasons is astounding.

Nutt had a better overall record, better conference record and more division championships at Arkansas than Miles did at Oklahoma State (Miles had a .500 conference record and zero division titles). Nutt would have been a better hire than Miles. And he probably wouldn’t have netted LSU the most vacated wins in NCAA history.

Yeah but Brian Kelly was supposedly a great fit because he had an all-time winning record and made multiple national championship appearances?

Coaching records aren’t everything

Deboer is coming off a SEC CCG appearance, a playoff appearance and a playoff win from literally last season. He's not Brian Kelly, hes had success in every head coaching jobs he's ever had.
