Vanderbilt Makes Major Quarterback Move Ahead Of NC State Game

Vanderbilt is making a change at quarterback ahead of Saturday’s matchup against NC State.

Commodores coach Clark Lea announced Tuesday that true freshman Jared Curtis will make the first start of his college career against the Wolfpack.

Curtis impressed off the bench during Vanderbilt’s 35-26 win over Delaware last weekend, completing 14-of-22 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for two touchdowns, accounting for three total scores in the victory.

The five-star freshman has completed 21-of-31 passes for 270 yards through his first two college games. Curtis was the highest-rated recruit in Vanderbilt history after flipping his commitment from Georgia and signing with the Commodores as the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Senior Blaze Berlowitz opened the season as Vanderbilt’s starter, but Curtis’ performance against Delaware was enough for Lea to hand the freshman the job heading into Week 3.

Vanderbilt enters Saturday’s home matchup against NC State with a 2-0 record.
