Sorry, that's not the standard.

I'm not sobbing. I'm watching the SEC get itself neck deep in a legal maneuver that has the potential to blow up in their face. They were wrong on the merits of the eligibility case to begin with, they've escalated at every turn and the risk/reward ratio of this case is not good.

after they enter the draft they should not come back in regards to Hutson

Well, Hutson signed contracts and participated in camps with NFL teams.

The nuance of which contracts he signed and what practices he participated in is what most of us recognize as unequal treatment.

I dont care. Contracts are contracts.

If you sign a mortgage and the ink is dry, and then 1 day later your house burns down it's still your loss, regardless of circumstance.

You can withdraw your name from the draft though, which would give you more room to argue.

I’m pretty sure that you cannot withdraw from the draft.

You can tell teams not to draft you or that you won’t sign, but I can’t find anything about a formal process to withdraw, if you are out of eligibility. I assume this is a mechanism put in place to avoid having players try and bypass the draft and go right to free agency.

To be fair, Ole Miss fans argued Wright wasn’t that good because he couldn’t make an NFL team.

But they still say he was an NFL player.

So for the LSU weirdos that cant find the delineation mark of eligibility it is clearly the contract.

So whatever waivers or other documentation signed by players for NFL minicamps doesn't reach the level of attempting to be a professional?

Doesn't make a lick of sense to punish players good enough to make a preseason roster and not the players who only did minicamps.

You become a professional when you sign a contract and/or get paid.
False.

With college football, declaring for the draft immediately meant you could no longer play college.

That was universally the standard until recently.

Now, all of you want to change the rules because you see the hypocrisy of the situation.

I didn't say i was. My personal preference would have been 4 to play 4. That has nothing to do with this topic.

If they entered the draft, they are ineligible.

It is an easy standard to hold.

The rule put out by the SEC does not say it needs to be a contract of employment.

2. Signed a contract with an NFL (or other professional football league), NBA/G-League, or WNBA (or affiliate team)

When you are out of college eligibility the NFL CBA states that all eligible people are automatically entered into the nfl draft pool.

Junior did not DECLARE for the draft. That word DECLARE is important, because the new SEC rules require that anyone who willingly DECLARES for the draft while they still have eligibility must remove themselves from the draft pool within 72hrs if they are an underclassman or February 19 if they are seniors with extra eligibility, or they lose eligibility.

Since Junior was out of eligibility he couldn't declare, and like all people, he was automatically included in the draft pool. He didn't get drafted. He wasn't invited to and participated in an NFL camp. He also didn't sign any contract whatsoever with the NFL.

The NCAA gave him 1 more year of eligibility because of the court order, he meet all NCAA and SEC eligibility requirements and was granted eligibility through the SEC.

Below is how the NFL draft works this includes every man and woman on earth that meets the following requirements:

Is the person at least 3 years removed from high school?
+-- NO --? INELIGIBLE for the NFL Draft
+-- YES --? Have they exhausted college eligibility / passed 4 years post-HS?
+-- NO --? Must manually petition for "Special Eligibility"
+-- YES --? Have they already been through a previous NFL Draft?
+-- YES --? Undrafted Free Agent (UDFA)
+-- NO --? AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDED IN THE DRAFT

Now tell me any other time in history where an UDFA who has no chance of making a roster and gets cut - is then referred to as an “NFL player”.

Neither of the 2 guys y’all are willing to burn everything down over, ever played in a preseason game. The preseason games where nearly the entire rosters get cut.

How are these two such a MASSIVE difference between the players on college rosters who only attend a NFL spring camp?
