The standard of “entering the draft” has always been the line.

They were out of eligibility.

Serious question
2 players signed nfl contracts then decided to come back, filed lawsuits, won, got the SEC enjoined. They were never rostered pending the outcome of the Federal suit. Lane decided to move on and rostered 2 other players locking his roster for the year.
What rule was broken?

It was my understanding that every NCAA football player is automatically entered into the draft upon exhaustion of eligibility.
Only players that have eligibility left have to declare. Ie freshman redshirt. Play 3 years graduate. They still have to declare because they have a year left.

He went undrafted. The same rules apply when a basketball player enters the draft early and goes undrafted, he can come back to finish out his eligibility. That's been the case for years.

The definition and guidelines has not been made obviously they grey area was not defined prior to the court hearing. We have erred on the side of caution after hearing and seeing what other universities did.
We were unable to make a decision on our own and are being punished for it when no clear guidance was issued in a timely fashion
